Teams are much more spread out in the AFL, which brings in conditions like mandatory home games after Perth trip, etc. Then there are the cases of the two town teams (Adelaide and Perth) in which the two teams host matches on a rotating basis... Point being there is more to it then throwing darts at a board, and that's before the clubs get they're say.
Also, if it came out before the Grand Final, what would we muse about in the off-season?
Even if a Melbourne based club was to play every non-victorian team away, they'd still have 11 home games and 5 away games in Melbourne, not counting matches sold interstate. Those who think the Magpies, Bombers, etc, get it "sweet" should pull their heads in.
