    Three Captains

Do we still need three captains?

Here's a Caro article that extols the virtues of Voss ... (personally, I think she's got a HUGE crush) ...

    Voss acts swiftly and decisively

And more significant than the decision to appoint Jonathan Brown as sole captain was the speed with which Brown was announced in the job. You always got the feeling that many of the older guard at the Lions, including Voss, believed in one captain but his move was stunningly swift unlike so many clubs, which spend an entire summer and even move into March before making such a crucial appointment.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

We didn't really need it then and we don't need it now. Kirk for captain!

      I agree. Kirk for Captain.

We have been blessed with our leaders over the years, such as Dennis Carroll, Paul Kelly and Stuart Maxfield and I would rate Brett Kirk just as high as these three as far as leadership, inspiration and effort.

Craig Bolton and Adam Goodes would be ideal vice captains.

The period when we most resembled an anarcho-syndicalist collective, with a broad-based leadership that exercised executive power on behalf of the entire list, rejecting the arbitrary rule of a "coach" imposed by the undemocratic corporate-imperialist "club", led to a premiership.

On the other hand, you can't go past Kirky can you?

I've had opposition supporters say they see Kirk as the captain of the AFL. Nothing against Leo and Bolton, who are in themselves superb leaders (we really have been blessed, eh?), but Kirky is the real standout leader.

In 2005, we had one captain. Even when Stuey wasn't playing, he was still effectively our captain, with the others essentially vice captains rotating through the role. Stuey was still the central leadership figure. It's a nice idea, having multiple captains, and CERTAINLY worth a try, but when you've got a player screaming out his leadership credentials as Hippy does (not literally, he would be way too humble!), how can you not raise him above the rest?

Three heads are better than one!
Having said that though, I definitely wouldn't have a problem with Kirky as the sole captain of the side.

Kirky is a gem. However, he would be in such demand, perhaps the 3 captain system is a good split. And with Adam and Craig as captains of vice. Somehow I just don't see Leo in the mix. And there is one issue. Kirky is over 30. Do we see him lasting for years? Not much of him, so would he be breakable in the near future? thoughts?

                      Agree.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

it should be one captain and thats it - all this so called innovation and groups within groups is creating distractions that are not needed.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I am guessing she is talking about the captaincy group within the leadership group within the playing group.
