anybody here have old swans/south melb footage

    hello

i am looking for footage of old swans games, around the 1980-1984 era, especially the early games at the scg.

i have tried to contact the club, but they are unable to assist me, and have also tried to contact both the abc and ch 7, however, they have both told me that they cannot help me.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thank you

Try www.sportsdelivered.com. I don't know how far back they go but they are supposed to have every AFL game.

Name a Game were great when I wanted a DVD of Plugger's kick.
I had to wait a while ... they had to burn it to disc from video.
        Well worth it.

The new double DVD "Genesis" covering the Swans 25 years in Sydney would no doubt have some footage of the period being requested, albeit at a very expensive $40.

My brother tried for years to get footage of Teasdale's epic game at Victoria Park in 1977. Channels 2 and 7 didn't or wouldn't help but we know both channels covered the game because we saw the replay and highlights.

I still rate it as the best individual game by a South player that I saw. The stats grow by the year and something like 20 odd marks and gave Len Thompson the biggest towelling of all time. He took marks everywhere. It was the emergence of an exciting talent but alas a career cut short later in the season by a knee injury, but he still won the Brownlow. With today's medical treatment he probably would have won it in 1978 also.

Those who had the pleasure of shouting "Teaser" when he took a mark will know what a crowd puller he was. His abilty to read the play in 1977 was exhilerating.

I had the number 20 on my jumper, got it as soon as he moved to South. The inside of my wardrobe door was covered with every photo of him that was in the Sun newspaper. My Swans parka had his number on the back....in short, he was my hero.

"TEASER" was such a spectacular and enigmatic player.

As an aside I attended a Rotary meeting in Donald a few years ago (his hometown), in the foyer of the Motel where the meal was there was an almost life size photo of him taking "that" screamer against North at Arden Street in round 22 1977. We won the game to make the finals. He was almost horizontal when the photo was taken. It was an awesome mark, and the win topped of a great day.

I recently saw some footage of Laurie Nash crunching opponents back in the 30s . Probably a little old for your purposes.

Before my time but we've got that same photo framed at home. I think Nico might have actually got it done for us - looks like a classic grab.

at least you could sound a little grateful for someone's suggestion

Considering I bought several games from 1987 from that site, you may want to look harder.

i am aware that footage from 1987 was available from sports delivered, i am looking for footage from between 1980-1984, and there is no footage available from those years at sports delivered/name a game/afl video.

                            thank you
