Did very little for someone with his ability.

Four (4) - very mixed effort for a player with his ability. Additionally he does "silly" things to be suspended. Needs to think more during the game.

I gave him a 6. The first two third of his season, he was flat. Not horrible, but not his usual exciting, hard-working self. However, his last few games, after his suspension, were Buchanan at his finest, and that pushed him up to a 6 overall.

An inconsistent year for him, he was a solid performer for the first 1/3 of the season but his form then dropped and was unfortunately suspended for 4 weeks, only to return playing better footy.

In terms of stats, he was down from 2007 in disposals (avg. 16.8 in 2008 vs. 18.4 in 2007) and marks (4.9 vs. 5.1) but he was better in goals (0.8 vs. 0.4) and tackles (3.2 vs. 2.8).

He started off the season well, being one of the better performers in the woeful clash against St. Kilda (20 disposals, 7 marks, 3 tackles, 1 goal) and played fairly consistently until around halfway through the season where he got less of the ball and wasn't using it well. A good example is against Collingwood in which his only stats were 12 handballs and a free kick against him. The four week suspension given to him was a joke (it should've been two weeks max.) but he played his best footy after his return from suspension especially against Brisbane (27 disposals, 13 marks, 5 tackles) and North Melbourne (27 disposals, 8 marks, 2 tackles).

2009 should be a better year for Monty.

4 - Is a gun and needs to play like a gun. Just didn't put it together in 2008.

Poor year by Monty, I hated watching him play like that as I love him.

Started well, then just looked content as he seemed to get through games not having a huge impact and keeping his spot.
His suspension was the turning point in my book, as he came back hungry.

Needs to have a big year in 2009, and be at his best in the packs in and under.

Amon has to start looking at the ball and not the man.He was disappointing this year as his form suffered due to lack of discipline.Will have to do better to get a regular game in 2009!

Un-lucky to cop the 4 weeks.
The additional training and hard work he put into those 4 weeks
off was incredible. I watched many of these training sessions.
This bloke is a true competitor and gives it all he has got.

5 - poor decision maker and very inconsistent disposal. Cannot be a walk up start in 2009 on that form.
