17 ex-swans miss out in draft

Interesting that 17 players who have worn the Swannies' jumper nominated but missed selection in the national draft.

Luke Brennan, Aaron Bruce, Paul Currie, Nick Davis, Matthew Davis, Andrew Ericksen, Peter Faulks, Stefan Garrubba, Simon Phillips, Sam Rowe, Earl Shaw, Jonathan Simpkin, David Spriggs, Dean Terlich, Kristin Thornton, Luke Vogels and Josh Willoughby.

Apart from Davo, probably shouldn't have recruited any of the others.

(Can you believe I said "apart from Davo"?????)
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

A few of those wouldn't of nominated this year.

When you nominate I think you stay on the nominations list for 3 years before you are taken off. So for example Ericksen could of nominated last year but he still would of been on the list this year too.

Plus those that are de-listed this year are also nominated directly unless they ask to be removed.

A nothing list as most of those left overs or automatic add on's who don't even care.

If any of these players had an iota of "potential" left in them, they'd still be on our list.

That's just the way footy is.

Nick Davis was in line for a captancy spot this time last year - just ask him?

                    ... of the reserves!!

Looks like he's missed out at Brisbane too.

Davis' manager Lance Thompson didn't believe the Lions had made up their minds and said Davis still held hope of being drafted on December 16.

"They've got one spot left and I'm hoping it's for Nick," Thompson said.

But it's understood the Lions, who weren't completely happy with Davis' fitness state, are looking more at elevating rookie Pierce Hanley or giving delisted tall Joel Tippett a second chance.

The tag was that 17 players nominated, which under the current system clearly most of them actually didn't.

Of that list I could only see Nick Davis, Thornton and possibly Faulks who might have bothered to have nominated if they had to.
