Best swans games in last 8 years

Am thinking about going a bit nuts and buying a bunch of old games on DVD from sportsdelivered.com (which as far as I can tell has every game from about 2000 onwards).

What are the best or most memorable games in recent years??

My list (excluding 2005 final series):

    QF v Port 2003
    r22 v Brisbane 2008
    r19 v Freo 2008
    r9 v Port 2008
    r22 v Hawks 2007
    r22 v Richmond 2002 (Kelly's last game)
    r5 v Melbourne 2003 (10 goal last quarter)

    Would love suggestions!

R4 or so 2005 v Brisbane at the Gabba....6 goals in the last quarter to win after the siren.

Prelim against Freo 2006 was a great example of Swans at their very best.

Beating Geelong in early 2005 (or 4??) was great....7 or 8 goals to the Paddington end in the second quarter....plus Buchanan outplaying Ablett, (sigh! he really could have been brilliant IMO)

Beating Brisbane early in 03 or 04 at the SCG ...totally unexpected...one of the Scott's getting upset at the kick in 'cos there was no one to kick to...champions under the pump - gold.

Beating Carlton at Optus in 03 or 04 with 5 late goals....(A game I actually managed to see live )

Also early in 03 or 04 beating Brisbane at the Gabba when they couldn't kick straight...Brown throwing Saddo around like a rag doll...Goodes one of the marks of the year. Willo got the sealer.

EF against the Eagles at Homebush in 04...killed them in a torrential downpour

And who could possibly forget the Magic scream....2006 QF at Subiaco?

I doubt I can go past 2003 QF against Port. OUTstanding.

Last quarter of the EF 2005 against Geelong, still gives me chills.

Kell and Dunks last game 2002 against Richmond.

Agree with the 2008 R9 against Port

Also Thunderbolts & Lightning EF 2004 against West Coast.

OK, I have to add in one last out of the criteria game, with Stuey and Kell putting on a show against North Melbourne at the SCG dubbed "After the Hail" R3 1999.

You might want to have a look at a game between the swans and the roos on round 4 1999, a very depleted swans side took on a full strength kangas at SCG on a saturday night and were getting pumped at half time(as was expected). But the turn around in the second half was amazing with a magnificent snap by Maxfield late in the game saw the swans get up to winn by 2 points. Absolutely amazing game, especially the 2nd half.

Better than just beating Collingwood....we beat them by one point when Didak missed a last gasp chance at Homebush (06??) diddums, poor maggies

Other than the great finals victories, there was a game against essendon late in 05 at telstra dome, round 20 i think, which I think was a great game. It was the first win for swans over them in melbourne since 89 or something and was a really tough, high scoring, goal for goal affair with swans just breaking away late in the last quarter to win by around 3 goals.

Some great games remembered thus far.

Agree totally with the QF against Port in 2003 being up there at the top. Don't think I have ever enjoyed being at a game so much at the time. (2005 GF was better in retrospect but was quite painful at the time, especially during the longest last 5 minutes ever.)

Another couple of great matches not mentioned so far

                  - round 13 (I think) 2004 against the Saints after Cornflakes' poor didums had felt tired during the week and had gone to the movies instead of training. We broke their season unbeaten record.

                  - similar story in 2005 against the Toasters at the SCG but a few rounds later in the season. They weren't unbeaten for the year at that point but had been on a roll and we brought that to an end too.

In 2007/8 we were able to beat pretty much every team we "should beat" but not match it against the top teams. These two matches are reminders that in 2005/6 we could take it up to, and beat, the very best even though during the H&A we were only a 3rd/4th ranked team.

Also think the 2006 QF against the Toasters was one of the highest quality games I've watched in years - tough, evenly matched and highly, highly competitive. Our break-through win at Subi and against an opponent at the top of their game too.

Absolutely!!! I remember it well. The only time we were in front was after the siren!

(One of the 26 games I attended that year. I certainly picked the right year for it though it didn't seem like a good decision early in the season.)

Not sure of the round but the game against Collingwood in '03 where we beat them by about 22 points with no bench. Goodes dislocated his finger(bone broke skin IIRC), he popped it back in and went back on. Great win
                      Bring it on!

Funny you should mention that, R10, 2001 I think you will find, its the game where I lost all respect for Rodney Eade. The visuals were incredible. Heath James on his face at the duggout with his 11th hammy, noone able to come back, Goodsey doing his best and yes playing on with compound fracture to his finger, Dunks landed on by Jarrod Malloy injuring his back, and after winning the game, Rocket tearing strips of Goodsey before they had even left the ground, and Goodsy virtually in tears. That was the last straw for me. Also a very good game.

Really tough list to comply. I worked it out this way: if the house was on fire, which of the ten only videos/DVDs games would you save:

                          1. 1999 Round 3 v North Melbourne

                          2. 2003 Round 5 v Melbourne

                          3. 2003 Round 6 v Collingwood

                          4. 2003 QF v Port Adelaide

                          5. 2004 Round 11 v St Kilda

                          6. 2005 Round 3 v Brisbane

                          7. 2005 SF v Geelong (actually I only look at the final quarter)

                          8. 2005 PF v St Kilda

                          9. 2005 GF v West Coast (the one we ALL would save if there was just one DVD to take)

                          10. 2006 QF v West Coast

There are a few of those games where you'd probably only bother with the final quarter - like the 2005 game against the Lions and the 2003 game against the Dees.

You're right Liz, I have watched the last qrtr of the 05 SF against Geelong many times, but have only watched the other 3 once.
