    Most successful club since 2003?

I've been reading the Membership Figures thread and, like RWO member 2005, am astounded that we're struggling to maintain memberships. As far as win/loss ratio goes, we must be very close to being the most successful club in the AFL for the last 6 years! Anyone got any figures on our record since Roosy took over and how it compares to all the other clubs?

Sydney is very fickle. Unfortunately, the "global financial crisis" hit the eastern suburbs very hard.

I'd like to see how many of the dropped memberships came from the eastern suburbs.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I read a precis of a book called "Predictably Irrational", which gave some insight into how the club mishandled the membership changes - read the second part of the summary of chapter 3 - from here.

(I'd recommend the whole article, its pretty interesting).

If the reason for any reduction in membership is because the finance guys are so desperate to conserve cash that they can't afford <$500 we are all stuffed.

Personally, I prefer to think that people considered that the lack of interest in Cuz from the Swans was indicative of another season commited to 'ugly duckling' footy. And with limited prospect of onfield success this has proven too much to handle.

The 2009 membership renewals were probably left in the repossesed beamers and mercs. The upside to all this is that i won't have those real estate financial services fast money types blocking the view of a Bevo screamer or copybook tackle (although you can still hear a Bevo tackle even if you are unsighted by a big arse) with their expansive back sides as they stumble over my thermos and crab stagger off to get the umpteenth drink, the annoying even handed comments about umpires and opponents and their expensively turned out slapper shielas drivel about little Fiona or Gareth and the . . . ..

Perhaps NMFC should offer these fast money types a discounted membership?

Paul Roos currently sits fourth on the ladder in terms of win/loss percentages behind Mark Thompson (Geelong), Neil Craig (Adelaide), and Mark Williams (Port).

I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Huge thanks 573v30 for such a detailed and in depth answer to my enquiry!

Geelong's just pipped us for top spot after 2 outstanding seasons but for sustained, consistently good results over the last 6 years, the Mighty Bloods have been the dominant force of the AFL!

(Nice to see Carlton down the bottom, too!)

The Swans then have won more games over the last 5 years than any other team!

No, according to the table, Geelong has. We have won the second most games over the last 5 years.

...and another thing to consider is that the only reason we are 1 spot ahead of west coast eagles is because of the shocking 2008 they had. If they had a better season last year, say an average season, than they would be in 2nd place and we would be in 3rd place.
