Brett Meredith - The forgotten man

No one has noticed that he is on the list this Sunday.

Let me remind you according to the 2009 Footy Record Season Guide:

A highly regarded young midfielder who had his seaon ruined in 2008 because of a shoulder injury. Well balanced and an excellent kick. 2nd round selection at number 26. Now weighing 81 KG. He is reading to join his stablemate from Nurthern U18's in firsts this year.

More pressure on the mid field selection.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

I would love to say that there's pressure on Meredith in 2009.

But with about 5 senior players gone/going, and at least 7 other senior-list players who were drafted as far back as 2003 who are facing make-or-break years, further compounded with a weaker-than-usual 2009 draft... barring major disciplinary flare-ups, he will most likely make it to 2010 regardless.

The forgotten player who is really under pressure to make his mark on the weekend, in the other pre-season games, and in the Canberra comp, is DOK.

Edit: Whoops. Not forgotten by all.

According to The Draft (Emma Quayle's book on the 2007 draft - a pretty good read), Meredith was rated pretty highly. I'm expecting big things from him this year if he stays fit.

I saw Meredith play TAC with Northern Knights and he was a standout player.Plenty of skills, finds the footy and has a good motor.Apparantly he is not a high maintenance player, similar to Moore, who just goes about his business.

I hope Brett has a breakthrough year in 2009.

One word to describe him when i saw him in the ressies (well the few times he was able to play), CLASS.

Just seems to have that little bit of extra time when he has the ball. Breath of fresh air IMO.

Should play at least 5 games this year if his fitness holds up.

I like the sound of that....I won't put the moz on him and make him my lovechild. Too much pressure for the poor thing.

Meredith was picked up for his disposal skills which are highly rated by the coaching staff. Given injuries cease how can he NOT get a run?

Listened to the game on SEN on Sunday - and KB said exactly the same. Was going to 'phone in and accuse him of plagiarism. But i gave him the benefit of the doubt.

                    Meredith Music Festival

Meredith in Victoria is renowned for its new age, hippy based music festival. Quite often very ordinary performances can not be enhanced by any significant ingestion of recreational substances. May be the same for Brett @ the Swans?

Apart form his early fumbles, I was most impressed. Could be a decent player.

Meredith is looking like he has played 50 games already.
2 great pieces of work in the 2nd half where he looked like an experienced player, not a novice.

He looks like he is going to have an excellent build on him once he fills out. He's going to be a very strong midfield type. Bird, Meredith, Jack, Veszpremi, then add a dash of Hannebury and all of a sudden I'm feeling better about the future. They just have to get the games into these guys.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Yep he looks good, just looks like a real footballer who belongs out there. As much as I rate Bird, if Meredith was getting as much of the footy as him I feel he'd do more damage with it.

Don't want to get carried away based on a few games, but it looks like we have some really decent kids!

Hannerbery is going to be SPECIAL. Forget Braba, Hanners is where it's at!

Keeps on impressing me more and more i see him in the ressies.
