Watched the game on ONE (from 7.30 pm) between the Cats and the Crows. Kellie Underwood was one of TEN's on the ball commentators and did a pretty good job. She's probably the first female caller of any football code in Australia. Well done. Chelsey Roffey was also involved in this game as one of the goal umpires.
Certainly doesn't harm the AFL's appeal to its female audience.

      I thought she sucked.

No offence to all the wonderful women out there.
      I dig chicks.
Just not when they're calling the footy.

      Just wrong

I didn't have a problem with her commentary, expect for her nasaly voice. Funny that, because she's pretty good on ABC Grandstand.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Agree and it was weird hearing a chick calling the footy

I thought her calling skills in itself were fine, but her voice drove me mad.

I'm all for advancing the female cause and it's great to see so many females in sports journalism these days, but they often have a nasal tone which is irritating. Very few make good DJ's either.

Totally agree, her skills to call the game where fine, it was her nasal sounding voice that drove me to the point of having the sound on mute for most of the second half.

Thoguht she did a pretty good job from what little I saw of the game, I'm a big fan of no-nonsense play-by-play commentary (Dennis does it very well when he isn't trying to be funny...though when his Commetti-isms hit the mark... ), looks like she will be competing with Rob Waters (who called the game at Carrara last week with Huddo) for a spot in Ten's commentary team and on the evidence so far quite frankly I'd have her just in front--Huddo had to remind Waters to stop barracking a couple of times...
