09 Membership Packs

Have just got mine today.

What a load of crap!

Our marketing dept have got to get out in the real world and look at what other clubs do with selling memberships & its Theme for the year
The money we pay, we simply get bugger all and our keyring ,cards. sticker pack all look very cheap and lack any sort of conviction.

Very ordinary I thought !

Surely that's not the reason why you're a member.

It doesn't really bother me what they pack looks like. After all I get 6 swans games in Melbourne, plus another 6 AFL members tickets. Pretty good pack for me.

The 09 keyring is a dud though...

I still haven't got my gold - silver refund yet despite 4 phone calls and an email and several assurances that I'd have it next week. I've been chasing it for nearly two months so I hold out little hope for my membership pack arriving before round 8.

I thought the exact same thing when I read the OP. You pay to be a member, any other "souvenirs" are just a bonus.

I have been using my 07 one and can't even remember the 08 one ... help??

My 07 keyring is outstanding. Long, slender and strong-- it has multiple miscellaneous uses like something in a Swiss Army knife.

Wasn't a member 08 so have no idea re that one.

What were you expecting? Seriously, what do other teams members get? It can't be much more.

08 keyring is square-ish, white background, red writing, and silver swan (possibly gold at one point, now silver). I have 07, 08, and 09 on my keys. It's getting a little silly.


Odd story re: 07 keyring.
I arrived home one day and to my dismay, I found my 07 keyring not on my keys where it was supposed to be. After a few curses and a bit of foot stamping, I got on with my life.

A few days later, I'm going to my car in my local Coles car park, I happen to look down, AND THERE IT IS!!! All scratched up and run over, but still intact. So, I jump for joy and people look at me funny.

Now, that's very lucky in itself, but it happened to me again! But this time, I found it in my work carpark, which I suppose is more likely, because I'm there 5 days a week. But still. It is officially my lucky charm.

I liked the '07 one as well. Last year's wasn't so good however!

Really though, surely the membership pack stuff runs a distant 2nd to the reason you get the membership? Its all nice to get great bonuses etc, but its now why I buy my membership that is for sure!

I'm not usually fussed about the members pack either but have a story about the stickers. We put the 2005 member sticker on the car, followed each year by the new sticker. Before the end of 2006 the 2006 sticker was peeling off, 2005 was still stuck fast. By the the end of 2007 the 2007 sticker was peeling off, 2005 was still stuck fast. Ditto for 2008. The 2009 sticker better stick fast!!

I still have the remnants of a sticker circa late 90s on the back of my car. It never exactly peeled off- just cracked in the sun. And I can't get the rest of it off. Every subsequent one has peeled off within a short time (or has been so ghastly that I never tried to attach in the first place).

Mind you, the RTA seems to be having trouble with its registration stickers too. I still have a few bits of a blue one (from 2006?) that no matter how hard I try I can't get off. And others have told me they had the same problem with that year. Yet my 2008 purple one that only commenced in November last year is already peeling off.
