They rate us, they don't rate us.... Swans 2009 previews

    Mostly they don't rate us.

What the pundits say about the Swans in 2009.

    The captains ? 12th
Only three tip Swans to make the eight

    AdelaideNow... Skippers tip Blues rise

    AFL.com.au ? 14th

Season preview: Sydney Swans - AFL.com.au

HeraldSun ? no rating, but expects good things thanks to in-form Hall and Goodes
Last rites? Think again | Herald Sun

Somewhere else I saw Gerard Healey predict 5th-9th.

I think the HUN write up was a fair assessment. The AFL write up was drivel (not because it was wrong, just stating the bleeding obvious). Interesting that only three other skippers have us tipped to make the 8.

He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Yeah, agree -- the HUN story was spot-on about the quarlity emerging players plus Hall and Goodes both looking like they're ready to play.

The captains' vote was interesting -- everyone thought Carlton would make the 8, and not one voted for Eagles.

        Lucky yet again

How lucky are we? We can slip under the guard yet again. We can play the underdog,be underestimated and be wagered against.Just makes my Footy Tipping win last year that much easier!
I look at the Swans on paper and the best case scenario is a nice blend of youth and experience, with a team ethic and good coaching.Be ware the Swans!

I really do agree. Scott Gullan has got it exactly right.
A fit and firing Hall and Goodes and who knows what could happen.
But lose Jolly and the odds will be stacked against us even more than they are now.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

I agree! Our best football was when we had Jason Ball/Jolly together.I feel the second ruckman is the key to our success and it could well be a Canadian. This kind of out of the box thinking deserves a rich reward.Go Pike!

              Season 2009...

We will win, we will lose. We will play good footbal, we will play bad football.

Hall's mental state will be questioned, Roo's selections will be scrutinised.

Crowds will come, crowds will go.

I will cheer, I will thump tables and throw pillows when we lose, I will hug people next to me at matches when when we win thrillers.

I will boo umpires and I will banter with oppostion supporters.

I love the footy, I love my team!

              Go Swannies in 09!
              Swannies for life!

Just package that into a 30 second ad and we will have

The Swans will also guarantee their supporters heart palpitations by being in front/behind in an unlosable/unwinnable position and go off/on the boil to win/lose by less than a goal in the last 10 minutes of too many games

Let me say first of all Rohan is no relation and bears no relationship to an actual writer. "Bring home the bacon" indeed. Exhausted cliches bob up through a barely literate flow of pure arse gravy. The hack has the skippy's above us (!!!!) and of course the Carlton Mob make it in the finals as well. A panting pean of homoerotic fantasy to Hawkins also gets a gallop. I'm gonna change the moniker.

Nathan Buckley says 14th and Robert Walls 12th in today's Age liftout (which is infinitely better than the Hun's one).

Walls also says we rely too much on Crouch!!

Does Walls actually have any knowledge of our list? Strangely, he continues to be paid (handsomely one assumes), to make stuff up.
