For the first eight days of his illness, Ablett could not eat at all. By the time he reported for pre-season training, he had lost seven kilograms. "I was in a pretty bad way. Tom Hanks from Castaway was the most common thing I got (from the players). I guess the only good thing was it's a nice change from having to lose weight in the pre-season like I usually have to."

Hope he's muscled up in the interim - the photo looks as though it was taken just after he got out of hospital.

maybe he's looking to Gillette to be a future sponsor? But Lukes beard and hair combo stood out like dogs balls in the photo.

But did anyone see the picture of Peter Hately on the site ? I thought it was Rolf Harris at first glance.

How dare he choose to grow a beard! How dare he not look how some of you think he should look!

I think he looks great (said while stroking my own increasingly more feral looking beard)

Off season do as u please, but imagine playing with that growth, how many times would u get tackled by it? Maybe he thinks he's that Manly League player, the wolfman, would need to pick up his pace a bit

I thought exactly the same thing - Wolfman loved the hair/beard combo. maybe Luke was having an early mid life crisis?
