....probably a sensible move in the current climate. It would be a bit rich for me to complain given the funds sent my team's way previously.....

Demetriou not only made a surprise appearance at the Swans' season launch, he went against the trend of AFL commentators, yesterday predicting Sydney would make the finals for a seventh straight year.

"We are expecting big things from the Swans this year, they have been the best on-field performers for the past few years," Demetriou said.

"It is an incredible feat considering the club has never bottomed out to get a first-round draft pick but to have a sustained on-field performance to win a Grand Final, be in Grand Finals and be in finals consistently is a great testament to their coach Paul Roos and their playing group."
