Why didn't we give up a first or second round draft pick for either of theses players? We really need one of them in our midfield. These guys have that explosive pace like Frosty use to have.

The guy we should have been looking at is Leigh Brown as an interim full back. Pies got a good 'free' pickup there IMO.Sports do not build character. They reveal it....Heywood Broun
I always turn to the sports pages first, which record people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures......Earl WarrenComment

They might as well bring Johnston in now. Ist round the 2's get flogged and he is our best. If he does this every week it will be a waste.
Bring him in now and leave him in. I think there is clearly a spot on the forward line right now. Buchanan's spot. Grundy is OK but why not another tall forward who is agile to boot.
Bugger me dead other clubs bring in their top 10 early in most cases why not us if he is good enough.
Throw the man with the canvas bags full of cash into the guts and make him work. He will get the footy more than 32, 24 and 28 (GF credit men) and has a couple of distinct advantages on that trio; he can mark and kick. We have only Bird and McVeigh who have any disposal skills in the guts so we need to add some quality. It might just spark him to lead from the front and we might win the odd centre clearance. For goodness sake he was drafted as a centreman, has a big motor and is built like Mitchell.Comment

Yep. Out for most of the season with a knee reco that he suffered playing for Geelong in the Qualifying Final against St Kilda. So wouldn't of added a thing to the side on Saturday Night if we traded for him because he is out injured with a knee injury and giving up a early pick for him in that case is just plain crazy.
As for Lovett, well we saw on Sunday that he hasn't changed the main weakness in his game - his head. Port got into his head before the ball was bounched and he was a ticking timebomb for the rest of the match. What would of changed at Sydney?? Not a single thing.
Glad we stayed well clear of both.Once was, now elsewhereComment
