    Opposition hatred of Goodes

I became quite distressed by the Saints fans bagging of Adam Goodes last night.

They were bagging him for not getting contested possessions. On and on and on about it.

One of these instances they condescended to say it was nearly a contested possession...what he had done was run 100 metres with Goddard 2 centimetrs from him and finally burnt him off with and extra burst of speed for a lead to collect a pass in our forward 50. Just before this he had workded his butt off getting it out of a congested area with great skills.

(My keyboard is dodgy please excuse the spacing stuffups)

He's not Robert Harvey..or Brett Kirk..or Judd..but he is one fine cut of a man with great skillsand athletic ability who never gives up.

One day JF it might be me being escorted out of the stadium after defending Goodsey.

Satch! they don't hate Goodsey, they are envious of him. Such a fine looking bloke, lovely straight back, dignified at all times (except for a few little hiccups in the last what eight years? nothing), Two Brownlows, One Captaincy, and above all else One Grand Final Medal. Beats St Kilda hands down. And he is indig. Probably where the issue lies if the truth be told. But it does fire your blood when you hear unfair bagging doesn't it.

I think his behaviour and supposed luck at the tribunal last year turned a lot of people off him. The Age footy magazine also mocked his ability to get Brownlow votes for mediocre performances.

I have no doubt there's a racist element to it as well. Last night I heard some tool a few rows behind me call him "monkey man". I was tempted to ring the cops. St Kilda supporters of all people, after everything Nicky Winmar did. A few other St Kilda idiots around him thought it was a terrific joke.

That would be the main reason.

No different to swans fans bagging Reiwoldt.

He copped a lot of that last night.

I suppose that is what irks me...there were plenty of oppportunities for meto bag Saints on personal issues but why bother doing that?

Plus I would never bag Riewoldt..he was born in Tassie..and he has carried the Saints on his dodgy shoulders for years.

If there is one thing that unifies footy fans its a hatred of umpires.

While free kick stats dont show it, Brownlow votes make fans think that Goodes is an "umpires pet" - that aint going to make him popular with supporters of 15 other clubs - and when its backed up with good fortune at the tribunal.....what can we expect???

The hatred isnt fair, but its understandable.

Ha, part of your "extended" family!! And yes he has carried them.

Well I don't bag too many players either, but not all fans are as nice as you and I!!

If I remember correctly I think the only player I bagged continuously was Wayne Carey.....and Cousins......ooohwha.

I have heard opposition supporters bag Goodesy every time he goes near the ball, but not other Swans players. When I accuse them of being racist, they shut up very quickly.

Started by collingwood numnuts abou two years ago at the MCG. I was at the game. They also cheered when Micky was seriously injured in the same game.
