I was interested to find out after the Swans' victory against Hawthorn at Stadium Australia, what was the most goals kicked by South Melbourne/Sydney against the reigning Premier. For the record:

25 goals against Adelaide 1999 Round 20
24 goals against Essendon 1986 Round 16
23 goals against Melbourne 1942 Round 5
22 goals against Hawthorn 2009 Round 2

Alas, for some terrible umpiring decisions, (eg the Ryan O'Keefe non goal), the Swans might have broken the record against the Hawthorn.
