Bit of a joke really. But if they really want to be pedantic about this then why not ban Sam Mitchell as well.

            From AFL.com:
"The AFL had indicated it would crack down on reckless contact with umpires, including bumping another player into the umpire."

Mitchell clearly bumps Kirk into the ump.

On a side note, should the Players Assoc ban umpires for interferring with the play?

This is serious stuff. The afl is obviously trying to make an example by referring this directly to the Tribunal. I fear that if Kirky can't prove his innocence the penalty will much harsher than what's been handed out in recent times.

                One word - NETBALL.

Sam Mitchell should go for recklessly pushing Kirky into the umpire. Kirky will get 2-3 weeks as an example to other players in the competition to basically be 40-50m from the ruckman and umpire when the ball is bounced in the centre square and around the ground. The AFL's agenda is for the Ruckman to tap it down, then pick up the crumbs and shoot off to the first teammate....

Pffffftt - what is becoming of the AFL...

Give me a break, I hate people saying that modern footy is turning into netball- have you ever watched netball? Netball is rough as hell AND the players actually stay in their positions!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

He is looking at a few weeks out because he was playing close to his man. As much as a joke as this is, this is too serious to even start to think about laughing.

This is a pure witch-hunt on tagging

I am not sure what remedial action Brett could have taken other than to play well behind his man which clearly isn't an option. The AFL is ruining the bloody game with its pedantic approach to all things.

Surely Mitchell should have been cited for deliberately forcing Kirky into the umpire?

I think he's in big trouble, the AFL will want to make an example out of it.

Make an example of what? I watched the entire game and didn't see anything, so how bad was it? This seems like a huge overreaction.

I suspect that referring him to the tribunal and the prospect of a suspension is the example being made. I really doubt this will amount to a suspension. I`ll cancel my Telstra business if they do, that will make them think twice
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector
