How to buy tickets at the SCG for where you actually want to sit

I am trying to buy a ticket in the O'Reilly Stand for my friend's 5 year old son who she is bringing to his first ever live game this weekend. I need a seat in the O'Reilly because that's where my memberships are (ie where me and his mom will be sitting and where I now there will be a spare seat next to mine).

After getting over the fact that it costs $45 to sit a 5 year old in a platinium stand, I am now getting frustrated by the Ticketek website that will only sell me a platinum seat in the Brewongle stand.

Has anyone found a way to persuade the Ticketek website to give you more choice? (I'd be very surprised if there are no tickets available for the O'Reilly). Or do I have no choice other than to go to a Ticketek outlet or phone them? If I do go to an outlet, will they actually give me a choice of where the seat can be?

Liz, if you phone Ticketek they will check to see if there are seats available where you want them and if so you will be able to purchase. I tried to get a seat for my granddaughter in the O'Reilly concourse by where I sit, but apparently no seats available in Bay 9

If you want a specific seat or a specific area you have to either go down there or ring them.

I tried for particular seats at Manuka, and after about 15 attempts to "choose different seats" online, I rang and booked the seats I wanted through T/master.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Yep - only options are to call or front up to a ticketek outlet. Their booking software allows them to select specific seats, whereas the ticketek website tries to give you "best available", which, as far as I can discern, involves selecting seats at random.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

You would think that modern technology would allow for more sophistication, wouldn't you?

I am pretty sure I have bought tickets in the past for the MCG and been able to select the stand and often the actual seat that I wanted. That was when Ticketmaster had the MCG contract, mind. Maybe their software is just that much better than Ticketek's.

Not sure, if it's available for the O'Reilly, but did you try to contact the Swans regarding getting a possible guest pass for that area?

If he's only five he's probably a small fellow, By a cheap ticket on the concourse then sneak him up under your beany

Buy concourse ticket and just take him with you pick a time when ticket people busy and just flash ticket in amongst your cards.

A little tip liz- go buy some ear plugs just in case. You never know when a little one with be over awed and find the noise all too much.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Ah, kids love noise. After all, they create a lot of it themselves

Phoebe will be coming to her first game for the year on the weekend. Should be interesting to see how we go, this will be the first time we've brought her where she is mobile.

I have considered ear plugs. But for me, not Toby. He is a very confident, sociable, garrulous young fella and I can't imagine him being overwhelmed by anything. My main concern is he just won't shut up for 3 hours!

On a sidenote, does anyone know if members can walk around to the Noble stand this year to use the bar/restaurant facilities???

Buy a concourse ticket, get her indoors to meet you down there with all tickets, you know it makes sense
