    away game members

    hello all

can anyone enlighten me as to what the story with memberships at away games?
i was trying to buy some tickets for the bulldogs at manuka. apparently my membership does nothing for me in such a situation ..

have i been misinformed? surely the swans and the afl would consider it a good thing to have members at the game...

there are options to enter afl/club memberships on the website but my cards have no such 12 digit barcode number ( they do have a barcode ... just no number ..)

and if my membership (ie the one that almost doubled in price this year) doesnt get me anything for away games, then just how much money do i have to allow them to extort from me before i get something back?

what is the story here RWOers

    Hi Happy,

Basically if you have a Sydney based Swan's membership you are admitted into 11 home games.

There are no extra rights or priviliges to purchasing away game tickets. Basically if the tickets are sold through the Ticketmaster website you have to buy your ticket through the Reserved Seating section. NOT AFL/Club member section.

    Hope that makes sense.

well what you said makes sense but i am quite surprised/disappointed that there is not, at very least, some sort of priority arrangement for members ..

There are priority arrangements for members for games at the GABBA, Subiaco and AAMI. You can buy tickets from a special "away team" allocation via the Swans website. That is useful for games against the West Coast and Crows which often sell out early due to the number of members they have. And I guess if and when Brisbane are back up flying, Gabba games might start selling out too. Games at Manuka rarely sell out, and if they do, it is usually only just a day or two before the game. And any allocation the club got would be tiny compared to the numbers that usually make the trek down the highway.

Changing the subject just a little, one thing that caused not only myself but Mike_B a lot of concern before the game was that the Victorian Swans members Sydney barcodes do NOT work at the SCG. Apparently this was the case at Homebush against Hawthorn as well.

A call will be going into Tony Morwood about this most definitely in the next day or two. Luckily I got let in, but for a membership's barcode to not work properly is a major major stuff-up by the club.
