All 3 emergencies were at Leederville oval yesterday. Grundy trained seperate from the main group for the whole session. Barlow was with him for a fair while as well.
By the time we're ready to admit we've reached middle age, we're beyond it

9 listed players + 4 scholarship players by my count (No Orreal). Moore and Pyke played but it seems Brabazon didn't so he looks like the emergency for tonight's game.

DOK in the best players. Is that a first?

I went and had a look yesterday Scott and to me Smith looked miles ahead of any Sydney listed player.Moore appeared to struggle for run and some of the errors made by the other guys were very disappointing. Mickey O seemed rusty but you'd think he'd come in very soon.

Thanks wedge. The couple of senior games Smith has played he didn't do to well, but the reports I've heard over the last 12 months have been favourable for him. Hope he gets a run soon.

Thanks for your comments everyone who saw the game. Here it's bad enough trying to find out what's happening with the seniors let alone the twos.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Due to Queanbeyan's loss today to Eastlake (Aaron Bruce in the bests again), the Reserves actually moved UP a spot into the top 4 . Ainslie also upset the previously unbeaten Belconnen today.

                        We play Queanbeyan next week.

I thought Smith did OK in his first couple of senior games. Didn't set the world on fire, but then it is rare that any of our youngsters do.

He definitely has talent. Some of his ball control and work in traffic is very impressive indeed. In the couple of senior outings he's had, and again in the NAB Cup game this year, he's looked as if he doesn't quite believe he belongs at senior level - possibly in part because he is still pretty slight. If he can get the confidence necessary to fit into senior football, he has the potential to form a potent future on-ball brigade alongside Bird. But because the Swans seem quite conservative about throwing the younger players into the centre square, it may be some time before we see the benefits of his clearance work. I reckon Bird and Schmidt are/have suffering/suffered from this conservatism as well.

If there is a bookie taking bets on the Mulrooney, then put the house on Bruce. Why he's playing in Canberra is anyone's guess-- I suppose for some players, pushing your name before AFL scouts isn't the most important thing in your life, and continuing to live and play in your hometown ranks higher.

Losing a game 5.14 to 7.5 would surely give Belco nightmare recollections of the GF last year.

Looking at how the Canberra comp ladder has already spread, there are 2 teams with percentage over 200, and the other 4 teams are all under 100. Not hard to guess where the GFists are likely to come from. No matter how well the Swans do with injuries for the rest of the year, the fact that our list is 6 down on its potential maximum (Fosdike, Kennelly, Coney, plus 3 local rookies never selected) means that we're no show of going for the 5 in a row.
