    Times up for??

Ablett - just ordinary on Saturday. For such a senior player he really does not contribute. He may well be a stopper but in reality he is just a plodder. He ball watches and rarely injects himself into the play. He is filling the space of a youngster. I suspect if crouch was not injured he would not have played.

Buchanan - still hope for 'bucky' but really just a litany of errors and lack of effort on the weekend. His turnovers and mistakes led to several goals. We held on to him instead of Schnieder - i not convinced we made the right move. He is looks well built and tough but his chances are running out.

I will restrict the list to two for now as the others who were down were kids.

Roos i think was out coached in the first half - he has stated that he was alert to the fact the dockers were pumped for the first half - we should have rope a doped them - stack the backline and make it really hard to score - grind them down for a quarter or two and test their resolve. To blame the young guns and not doing it for kirky and bolts was a bit of a cop out - he should have risked the inevitable criticism and prioritised the win and gone very negative. The game would have opened up in our favour - in my view - after the Dockers got frustrated.

Buchanan is mecurial. The difference between his best and worse is vast - which doesnot fit the Swans ethos or gameplan. Come the end of the year he may find himself subject to the Nick Davis Rule, where being good isn't good enough. For an established player spends a fair bit of time going up and down into the twos. If we weren't decimated by injures I'm not convinced he'd be playing.

Ablett is a funny one. Undoubtedly if you were to rate the list on ability NOG would be well into the bottom half, but that said you know exactly what you will get from him week in - week out, meaning he is a known quantity and can be planned for. Agree he's not as good as he should be. Could benifit from a couple of weeks in the twos....I'm not a fan of his.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

I am not a Buchanan fan as he plays for frees far too often and he is often selfish with the ball.
On the other hand I think Ablett is a very valuable player. He gets into the tough stuff and has heaps of tackles.

Agree with that. Ablett is a very effective inside midfielder. Very strong, courageous and a good defensive player. Good overhead. He was completely mis matched against Pavlich. Buchanon is about the only midfielder we have at the moment who had/has the first five metre acceleration to break out of packs. Due to injury he lost that speed and form. He roves the pack very well and is dangerous in the forward pockets. He put is in front in 05 GF roving off the next President of the club. (Just as a side note Davo ran past the ball with a shocking fumble). Both players are important to our hardness at the ball in the centre. We need them fit andd in form with so many kids in the team. Thats the thing Connolly I don't think he is very effective inside I watched him live on Saturday and noticed how easy players like palmer etc were able to knock him of the ball at the stoppages and most of his possies in close iether didn't hit there target or headed the other way. There is no doubt he gives 100% but at the moment its not enough we need more from him and hes just not good enough.

Buchanan, Ball and co would be without a premiership (and it'd be 76 years and counting) if it wasn't for the great man though

I thought Buchanan kicked the winning goal in the 2005 GF?

Or did you mean Schneider's goals in the QF against the Aints?

Or perhaps Baz's captain's goal in the GF from outside the 50?

Has Trade written all over him, allthough wont get too much for him now.

You've got my dandruff up on this one old bean.

Ablett good overhead, ha, he never gets to a marking contest to ever know. Best thing he did was the meat raffle ad and that was pretty ordinary and embarrasing. The day he picks up his man will be the day he could be remotely called defensive. Plays like an Rugby Union boof head and is starting to look like one. Just loves to tuck it under the wing and run into a pack. Next you will call him creative. If he lost a few kilos or 20 he might be able run out of sight on a dark night. Get him off the protein shakes.

"Credits" Buchanan I agree has lost his speed but he don't know that. Still tries to break past players with a blistering reverse gear. Roves the packs, give us a break please son. He hasn't kicked a goal roving the packs since Moses came off the bench for the Sinai Thirds. (History lesson, Jesus played full back for the Sinai Seconds).

You're strainin' the potatoes into the wind on these two.

Your bloke The Bevanator" has gone way past these blokes and is out of sight.

Now what would an Essendon supporter be doing referring to ROK as our player?
Or did that come from your Melbourne supporter "ghost writer"?

My crystal ball says he will be traded to one of your clubs at about 32yo in keeping with the track record of these clubs. By then both Knights and Bailey will be hailed as miserable failures and other new coaches will be keen to build using "experience".
