Apropo nothing....could anyone understand what he was saying? His accent is fantastically unintelligible to me, but I also had a bit of an issue with Tadhg so perhaps its just me

LOL - we had no clue what he said either - if anything we thought he sounded more irish and at least as puzzling as Tadgh ever did over the stadium speakers!

And very nice to see the cheer squad at the Paddington end were quick to switch flags - the maple leaf is far more aesthetically pleasing for swans games than the orange and green!

As for his performance, very solid we thought, and as a match up he can create some headaches on size alone. Five minutes to go and he put a copy book shepherd on a tiger forward to allow Shaw to clear easily (in front of Bay 2). He was so big all we could see was a skinny leg and an arm on the other side of him get bumped to the deck - was beautiful to behold! With a rugger background, you'll never seem him rag dolled out of the way like so many AFL players - and he'll never be afraid of taking a bump or three!

I'm rapt he's here - how gutsy to roll the dice and have a crack at a totally new ball game on the other side of the world. He has my best wishes for a long and successful career!

Yes, because we are going to lose this one anyway,and I'd like to give him a taste of the best opposition before he returns to the twos. And I'd rotate him with White and Jolly through a forward pocket.

If you ignore the hype and feelgood nature of the story, he was about as good as Chambers on Sunday. He was ordinary in pure football terms, but played a role and gave Jolly a rest.

He has a lot more upside though and in 30-40 games could be a weapon. He runs like a gazelle and is a man-mountain. Could easily play a leading and/or goalsquare power forward role.

This is a TERRIBLE anthropromorphic mixed metaphor. You of all people! The Bloke runs like a MOOSE. Locomotion: In spite of its huge size and ungainly appearance, an adult moose can run through a forest at speeds up to thirty-five miles an hour. Good swimmers, moose can move through water at speeds of 6 mph for up to 2 hours. Few predators can successfully challenge a healthy, adult moose.

He was better with his taps that Chambers, and I don't remember Chambers ever taking a mark going back with the flight of the ball in defence. Granted, he was no Cox. But for a ruckman on debut, he did well, and he did better than Chambers in most of his games.

Hopefully he will maybe get a game or two more in the seniors at some stage this season, but most importantly gets lots of footy for the reserves.

Looks to me like the three rookie talls will all get their chance to show what they can do. After the Moose has had a few games it will be the turn of young Crusher Currie. We would have seen Dan in the ones already this year but he had hardly any pre season.

At this point in time Dan is a better prospect than either White or Pyke. Better in the ruck and a better mark and has footy smarts as well as brains.

Yeh, always wondered what has happened to this boy since seeing him in a pre season game a couple of years ago and felt he played well. I think he kicked either 4-5 goals in the 1 game I saw him in.

And at this point I think MP would run out a game better than Cuz, who is still a kid after all. MP has aerobic and athletic substrata platform which Cuz hasn't achieved yet. And I cannot wait for him to debut too. He is much better now than he was six weeks ago. I predict a blooding by the end of the year.

There is only one moose and Mr. Henwood retired over 10 years ago.

There was nothing ungainly about the way Pyke ran around on Saturday, he is an athlete who covers the ground with ease.

I agree with that, but I'm also thinking Pyke may not be a long term ruck option.

Maybe once Pyke has 30-40 games under his belt (it's ridiculous to talk about these terms!) he may be able to hold down a KP.

Agree with that, he looks abig strong athletic type, who will need to improve his fitness from Rugby to AFL standard, but after he getssome miles into the legs he might make a KPP, would be nice to have some real talls down the spine

With an 11sec 100m sprint - he's built for power player. Quick to close on the spoil or very fast on a lead. Needs to work on timing and game knowledge but I would expect he's got a good level of fitness to expect him to play ruck and head forward and back to help out.
Oh and I'd also like him to close his mouth when he's marking. There is a classic photo of him from last week taking a mark in practice and he looks like a kid playing Auskick. At least the tongue wasn't poking out of side of his mouth. or should I say
