we went to the alex for the first time yesterday - definitely a very impressive commitment to sport in general and the swans in particular. it was like going to a mate's place.
Not a particularly busy day for them. The day games usually aren't. Try getting down their next away night game. Place gets a few more in it and the 20ft screen out back really comes into it's own!!

... if they've replaced the projector. It's ok though. Once you get to the third quarter, you don't notice the big yellow square in the middle of the screen!!

Does Capper still make the odd appearance as guest speaker during the breaks? Always entertaining.

Yeah it's a great joint. Pity everytime i go there the Swans seem to lose.

I had my first Alex experience for the Freo game. Is it always $4 for a plastic cup of coke?
Dunno about the price of beer as I was driving (75 minutes away), but that would put me off going back.

Don't know. Never drink coke in a pub. What's the price at the SCG? What's the price at any other pub?

                  Stay away from the place!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Hmm, I'll have to get up the nerve & check this place out.

I don't drink coke in a pub either usually if I can help it, but....
At $4.50 for a 600ml bottle compared to $4 for a 425ml cup, the SCG coke is better value, and wouldn't be pre-mix.

But don't think I'm @@@@ty about the place - everything else about it was spot on - massive screen outside, lots of screens inside, Swans' supporters everywhere - 8/10 for me.

Yeah but you don't get ice at the SCG...

I'll buy you the next one next time you're at the Alex..

my thoughts exactly RP - the big screen had rugby on when we moved along (for a seedy walk to redfern station). i can imagine a good crowd of bloods out the back for a night game.

also love how they had the other game in the back bar. we'll be back with more of us.

                              Anyone up for this weekend?

I'm sure Annie, GS14 & KLucky knickers who were there for last weekend's game will give a good report!!!

Besides, we might be a show of winning this weekend which makes the day a whole lot more fun.

                                I'll be in Canberra.

It's a great arvo out. Management even kicked in with a free potato scallop (potato cakes for the VICs) for all.

A tops place to watch the footy.
