    Schneider+Dempster=Pick#26

    Pick#26=Brett Meredith

Brings something to the Swans that I feel conflicted about seeing in red and white...a midfielder with class....bucket loads of class.

The way he moves across the grass, his field kicking and his goal kicking - pure class. I could watch him all day.

Finally got a torrent of last weeks game, he was one of the reasons the Swans dominated the first quarter - he was everywhere. Fell away as the game progressed, but is expected for someone of his experience. Predicting big things ahead.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

We won that trade comfortably imo. Meredith is a gun, he just looks like he belongs and his disposal is first class. Once he matures he'll move up the ranks quite quickly I'd imagine.

I like the fact that he has concentration and boy can he read the play. Rubbing my hands and am hopeful that when we get Ves back they will make up another alliance, like Cressa and Swatta.

Great draft for us wasn't it:
        Veszpremi
        Meredith
        Bird

It is not unfathomable that all 3 could be regular seniors by year's end. Who says we don't play the kids ?

That nearly made me heave my breakfast..but yes they did have an understanding on the field.

Hope our youngsters have more consideration for other people then the aforementioned. Schwass seems to have fought his demons and won.

Swans recruiting over the last few years has been top class. We have gotten
            Meredith
            Veszpa
            Bird
            White
            Thornton
            Currie

All will become regulars plus we have got Hannebery and Jonhston

People underestimate the Swans talent, and when we lose a lot of our good players we should be in a very good position.

I have been known to be a little critical of the Swans administration over time (you may not have noticed) but I think that the way we develop younger players is generally very good - except for Scooter (he's averaging 94 possessions a game in the SAFL you know).

Meredith has shown a lot of promise since joining our ranks, it's a shame that Schneiderman had to go. If only they took his "lookalike" instead...

Thanks for pointing out this fact.

I still think that we miss one or both of them and now I start to see the benefits of the trade.

                    Well done

Very optimistic thread, I hope all bodes well for the future because that list looks very promising. Now to nab another Lockett/Hall..

I mentioned this to swanstastic last Sunday.
Although he is a great pick up, not sure if was worth losing 2 players over though. But I won't complain, when he brings up his 100th, 200th game etc.

Ummm i was a bit sceptical about the trade as well, but Merideth is a pretty good player so far, lets just hope he can bring up some big mile stones for us.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Well it would have been kind of nice if we'd been able to have both of them somehow (salary cap reasons aside) as I still think we need a genuine crumber, but while it's very early I'm pretty confident Vesz will make it.

Agree Lobster we do a good job developing younger players. I still watch us play and think we don't seem to have enough skilled youngsters compared to other clubs as a result of our ladder position and the draft picks we've had. But we've done ok. I think the draft system has favoured teams that bottom out a bit more in recent years as clubs have gotten better at identifying talent at the 'top end' of the draft.

Roos couldnt get the best out of Schneider and he was putting on weight, plus salary cap issues. Had to go, I would have got rid of J Bolton or Buchann
