It was were the moniker "Leaping Leo" was coined, as he'd continually go for the speccy on the 50-metre arc. Turned out to be a useful skill, ey?

After 150 unsucessful attempts on the half forward flank where he would go early, try hangers, drifters and sliders he eventually got in right in September 2005.

Round 22, 1995 against Collingwood. We destroyed their finals chances and allowed Brisbane to play in their first final

        Also, Dermie's last game.

Barassi's last game and also Lethal's last game as Collingwood's coach. Weeks later he came out and questioned Kel's worthiness as the 1995 Brownlow winner. Sour grapes I suspect.

Leo's goal was a ripper. A set shot from near the left forward flank boundary on the 50 at the Randwick end. Great game that one. Had everyone licking their lips in anticipation of season 1996; ultimately a magical year for the long suffering supporters.

Not seniors for DOK yet..is only just starting to find a bit of touch..don't want to destroy his newly found bit of confidence.

Yeah, like we wanna be four players shy of where our list should be.

He'll retire at the end of the year. I just hope he can string together a few games between now and then. Even without a certain few seconds in September 2005, one of our best and most exciting of the last 15 years. Would love to see him go out on a high.

Would love him to get a few games in the seniors before he retires. Will Sangster - hindsight is an amazing thing! If the club did not want to sign him then they wouldn't have! Unfortunately you cannot predict the future - or maybe you can!

Sorry, but it @@@@ me to see statements like this. I know he won't be offering much to the club this season apart from advice to the youngsters. But we are talking about peoples jobs. If you were offered a contract wouldn't you take it? I'd be amazed if anyone anywhere walked from a job just to save their employer money .....that's lunacy.
If there is fault to be found it is the club for extending Leo's contract - but if they didn't we would all jump up and down about loyalty to a club servant etc etc.

I am surprised and disappointed that the reserves game this weekend is not being played before the big show. Cannot remember when this last happened. Anyone know why?

And Leo used to be very handy inthe 50m arc - remember his two goals in 3 minutes against.....can't remember who, exactly at the time Stuart Diver was b eing rescued from his spot of bother?

Yep Leo would be more then handy back on a HFF. He has matured a lot as a player since he was last regularly played there.

Also playing him off half back and breaking lines would be a nice option combined with his defensive skills.

Oh the club is equally, probably even more culpable than Leo. The fact is that we needed to turnover our list before the compromised drafts. We've kept 2 great servants in Barry and Crouch on the list who were injury prone in 2008 and will not play in our next premiership. This will be to the detriment of the team going forward.

As for Leo's personal decision, he was struggling with injuries last year and should have had an inkling at least that his body may not stand up to the rigours of another season of AFL. Its all good and well that he'll get his $200k this year even though his contribution may be zilch. Lets hope that the injuries that he has had this year have no long term effect on his quality of life.

By your logic, no player would ever retire from playing AFL because of the money. I'm pretty sure Bucks and Crawf could have got another contract this year with their respective teams if they wanted, but they realised that their bodies wouldn't have stood up to it. Why is Leo any different???

Incidentally, I doubt there would have been many complaints on RWO if Leo was tapped on the shoulder, in fact i think most were advocating it.
