    The travel bug

What is the story with our horrible form away from Sydney this year? We are undefeated at home, beating decent opposition in the Hawks, Blues and Tigers. However, we have been very ordinary away from our home turf. I've penciled in wins against the Eagles and Power, at home in the next two weeks and our next away match is against the Dogs at Manuka. This is our best chance to win an interstate match for the year because I can't see us winning any others.

Pull the finger out Roosy and get the boys fired up for an interstate match. It's getting embarrassing.

That's 3 weeks away. Hopefully they'll be prepared by then.

Alot of the inconsistancy could be put down the the youth we are currently playing.

Interesting frosty- you rate us a better chance to beat the Dogs at Manuka then you do of beating the Dees at Manuka???

We may just sneak home against a rapidly improving Dees outfit
I guess we are pretty lucky that we get to play two away games at Manuka against the Dogs and Dees. No problem with the fixturing for us.

        Our away matches to come,
        Round 10-Dogs at Manuka
        Round 11-Hawks at the G
        Round 13-Crows at Aami
        Round 16-Blues at ES
        Round 17-Dees at Manuka
        Round 19-Tigers at the G
        Round 21-Pies at the G

This is an unbelievably kind draw for us. All we have to do is pinch a couple of these away games and we're into the eight. So any danger of the Swans playing some decent footy outside of Sydney?

The premise of this argument is that we will win all 11 of our home games. We still have to play Geelong at home (good luck) and Collingwood (unlikely on recent history) and the so far undefeated Saints. Assuming we lose those three home games (and on current form we will) that would mean winning four away games minimum. The Blues, Dees and Tigers look most likely. Hawthorn won't be crap all year and should be stronger come June. Pies and Crows look very unlikely away from home. This leaves the Dogs in Canberra who if switched on will run us off our legs. It also assumes that we will account for erratic sides like North, Essendon and the Lions at home. If we lose any of these (and let's not forget we almost lost to Richmond), or lose to West Coast who also fall into this category then I'd suggest the finals are out of reach.

Sorry, but I just ain't seeing this 'unbelievable kindness' in the draw that you seem to be seeing.

Exactly. Any draw which had us playing Geelong, Hawthorn, St Kilda and Collingwood twice was never going to be kind.

Losing to both Freo and Brisbane didn't help the cause either.

Honestly think on recent form, struggled against Freo and fell over the line against the tigers. No top eight this year

For Gods sake get a grip!
At the beginning of the season, who on here would have given us a prayer of being 3-4 at the moment?
For those with short memories before a ball had been kicked in anger, Hawthorn were premiers, Carlton had the new "fab four" and the Tiges had Cousins so all and sundry predicted they would be top six if not top four, we were not expected to win ANY of these games. Conversely, I thought we'd beat the Lions but that's the only loss we've had that I thought was unexpected and when you factor in the weather that night, it wasn't altogether a surprise.
At best I thought we would be 2-5 after seven rounds so from my perspective we are one win better then I expected.
I have us down for ten more wins, finishing the season on 13-9 and finishing probably around sixth place.

                        No.

I'm sick of travelling interstate to watch the Swans lose. I went to Melb 5 times last year for 5 losses. I saw one win and a draw out of 6 the year before. have only travelled for one away game so far this year and might limit myself to just one more Melb game unless our away form improves.

Yes it's pretty frustrating. It's almost as if the players board their flights with carry-on luggage in one hand and a jar of Vaseline in the other such is the level of fight being shown. Granted, we showed more ticker on Saturday but we merely substituted it for a larger jar of sheer ineptness.

At this stage i'll settle for 100% commitment at away games - we tend to be more adventurous at home, maybe that will come in later away matches.
