Buchanon, J Bolton or the Schneider Man I know which of the players I would have kept.

I was shocked at the time felt he was our best crumbimg forward at the time.
Hall, Miky O, Schneider and McVeigh playing together now looks good on paper.

Suppose u cant win them all

Buchanan has, IMO, worked best as an in-and-under ball extractor who can go forward. Not a role you would expect Schneids to play.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Don't think he's as good as some others do. That year we traded our second round pick for Mattner and then received a second round pick for Schneider and Dempster. That pick was used to pick up Brett Meredith.

I'm still fairly happy with what we did during that trade period.

Buchanan has a quality Schneider lacked . He could always rev it up a cog or two for the big games. He should have had a Norm Smith in 2005 and was in contention in 2006. At present form would suggest we made a mistake in letting Schneid's go and keeping Buchanan but should we ever get into a GF again(wishful thinking) Buchanan would be the one i would want in the team.

I enjoy Buchanan, but unfortunately he doesn't have the same line to between the goal posts that Schneids has. Still, he's a good lad....sigh.

I do take you point but good ol' harry has done it again. Without the crystal ball - it's form, availability and fit at the time.
I'm sure Rossy Lyon gave Roos his list of who he wanted. At the time, IIRC, the only other serious name circulating was J. Bolton. Not sure if I'm right there. I remember Roos throwing out the "everyone's on the table" but in the sense of realistically getting trades done the list must surely have been shorter.
After Aussie Jones retired quite suddenly they definitely had a gap for the small forward. Match made in Heaven and it's working out great for both.

Zoolander is an interesting one but Saints are generally pretty ugly so I think Ross wanted to inject some class!

Certainly Jude given his gutsy week-in-week-out performances.

But maybe Roos thought Schneider was too exciting for our brand of football. Why keep a player who kicks long and breaks the lines?

If we had kept Schneider and let Buchanan go, we would be cheering on Monty and complaining about Scheider. It's not the players talent and it's not the coach either. It's the sniff of a grand final and self belief in the team. The Swans have lost self belief. It's not the loss of the odd talented player or their own talent, it's just confidence.
I am really getting sick of reading posts here which do nothing but criticize and bag the players.

I agree. I do want to add that its been a bloody disgrace that the swans crowd have booed Schneider since he has left. I recon he would come back tomorrow if he had the chance- even with the saints on top of the ladder.

I havent ever heard anyone booing Schneider except for when he's lining up a shot at goal, which has nothing to do with him and everything to do with putting him off his shot. And I have been to every Swans v St Kilda game since he was traded.

I have not been to every game - but ive been to a few and they have not played each other that often, the first game at the SCG sticks in my mine in particular. I'll let the other members of RWO decide but i dont think that i'm hearing things.

I don't recall any booing myself but it wouldn't surprise me. There are plenty of dim wits in our supporter base.
You know the types, the ones that boo their own team when they're not playing to well or yell out ball every 30 seconds.

I'm just stoked that we are the only team to have won a quarter against the Saints and we only got beaten by 18 points. Schneider didn't play a blinder against us.

The Pies last night made our 51 point drubbing against Geelong look respectable.

I was taking lots of positives out of last night and that is with me forgetting to take my mad pill yesterday...so that is saying something.

Yes I watched the Saints game and wondered why he was traded. I thtink they gambled on his injury status at the time, and did Ross a big favour, Dempster is on the injury list
