I like ROK's explanation -- no Spida, so we're a lot faster this year!

Smart players talk about how and why we are better. Okeefe is smart for highlighting and refocus our speedy stength and speedy attacks. We can drop our past regular praise for opponents to less than 5%.
            We make our own magic.

Goodes side-stepping his opponent again Vs PA giving himself panoramic 150cm wide-screen LCD vision instead of old analog 10" tv, as he did as well in previous match just showed he is a thinking, under control, that bit of extra class about him. If on average, each player does 2 simple side-stepping per match, it would add to a significant total to give it a strong push for supremacy. Don't we have that bit extra smart players in our team?

With speedy direct approach re Okeefe, you are more likely to have more opportunities for the forward to grab with less interference and facing the goal post head-on with best % of kicking the goals. This may explain why faster moving teams in corridors scores well in quick time re Geelong/Bulldog

With the past coaching failure of crabbing back & forth at 50metre defence, stop-look-and-look and monotonous regular hugging the boundary inching forward, you end up in side corners at forward 50m, flooded at forward center 50m, with less than 20% to 45 % chances (or the need to make 2.5 to 4 trips to the same tight corners to get the same equivalent one goal by law of average and chances of goal) of kicking the goals. These are calculated % or chances, not a concortion of fancy drug induced figures.

Our multi-demension attack, re Vs PA, is probably second to none and our Hall can make most opponents leg go jelly when he is closing in, if we can just give him and other forward more and and better goal % chances

We were simply not playing smarter than our opponents in the past !

Coaching failure? Possession football won us a premiership and we should have won two on the trot. But don't start me.
As far as moneybags goes he's got his mouth moving fast but lets hope he does better than his effort of one point against the Dogs in the 2008 semi.
Just as a matter of interest the ball is held and moved laterally to enable the down field players to create space, break into space and make leads. Kicking into the central corridor contests on forward lines where the opposition have dropped back extra players generally has one result - rebound. Our possession game has worked very well for us in the past.

I don't like this "smart" talk, I reckon praising the opposition is a winner and it it worked really well re Tredrea and Motlop last week

Right on. Roos is playing a blinder this year. Look at the job he did on Buddy.

Hoping he can lay some more uncompromising flattery on Cooney and Johnson this week.

Roos is who worries me most about this game. He seems to be very slow to react against top coaches like Eade and Malthouse. Once the horse has bolted it is too late to close the gate.He needs to be switched on and coach aggressively from the start exploiting every weakness he sees and make Eade coach reactively instead of him. I thought he did this well against Port but lets face it,our schoolboys coach could outcoach Choco. Is it a plan for Jolly to run forward so quickly..or does he just do it..? whatever,it was great to see and gave Port a headache. I wanna see Eade with a wrinkled bow frustated as he tries to cover Roosies moves. I fear I will see a slick confident Eade and Roosey wondering what to do to stem the flow! I hope I am wrong!

If our starts are anything to go by, Roos has coached pretty well against the Dogs in the past few games. If he was slow to react, wouldn't the Bulldogs be getting the fast starts?

Yeah,Roosey prepared the boys well,i can't dispute that but each time we have lost due to a one quarter onslaught by the dogs.Half way through the quarter we needed to shut down their forward line and just hold on to 1/2 time then regroup. This didn't happen and at 1/2 time it was too late.

Have we got over our slow starts this year?

It used to be a crap Q1 and then three quarters reeling them in. This year we seem to be distributing the bad quarters around.

We started brilliantly against the Saints, Port, West Coast (until last two minutes), and OK against Hawks, Richmond, Geelong.

Against Brisbane we were consistently mediocre for four quarters.

Our only really bad Q1s were against Freo and Carlton (who should have been 5 goals up).

I'll go with that, but it won't work all the time, the big difference for us is that the midfield is working better now, and that is where games are won and lost. Roosy is agreat coach, how anyone can bag the man who brought us our first flag is beyong me, and I mean Sydney, being as I'm originally from Sydney.
