    Roos versus Eade

It would be an interesting thread to track the coaching decisions and positional changes made by them during this game.Maybe a check of the number on interchanges could tell us something as well. Does either of them make a key move that wins the game? Does anyone else wanna do this for the game?

First Points to Eade: Team Selection:
Roos has broken the golden rule and not picked a team on form. There is no way form wise Ablett deserves his place. There are other in form players in the 2,s. Will this decision cost us the game? We need to watch Ablett closely this game .The Dogs are carrying no passengers as far as I can see.We are.

Sometimes it pays to watch Ablett's man!! Plenty times you don't see too much of him. Gives you an idea why Roos keeps selecting him.

Eade is the better tactical match day coach. Roos is the better player manager and motivator. Flexibility v planning. Eade is more imaginative and less risk averse on match day. Roos is very conservative from the bench and very reluctant to change the plan. Roos is the better puncher, Eade the better counter puncher. This is one of the reasons that the Bullies start so badly but can recover and put scoring surges against the opposition. Eade is a brilliant coach who handles pressure and his players emotionally. Roos is very cool, doesn't panic and keeps his head. Eade knows our players better than Roos knows his. Expect to see a lot of changing match ups from the Dog box. Roosey can't afford to just stick with the plan. The Dogs have a brains trust in their kennel that knows the foibles, habits and player secrets our players. Big, big test for Roosey today. If Eade out coaches him like he did last season we are in trouble. Great idea for a thread though. Best coaching match up in the game at the moment.

            Hmm.

Why is it that our forward line is outnumbered, and so is our back line???

This thread doesn't seem to work during the game..it is more suited to post game analysis..Oh well! Roosey can't coach against a really one sided umpiring display,,the frees are there for the Dogs they are paid, the same frees for the swans not paid.classic example Jude Bolton scragged after disposal no free

Hey Dick the bloke you shafted has outcoached us again. He reconfigured the Bullies midfield, after assessing the game in the first twenty minutes, put some very fast heat on our defenders running and generally pantsed us from the dog box. Roosey predictably maintained his midfield structure while Eades boys piled on 13 goals driven by a dominant midfield. Surely Roos could have put some negative checking into the midfield - Bevan, taken Crouch off Acker and put him on Eagleton and put Ablett somewhere away from the midfield massacre. Jude Bolton should have been switched into the sweeper role in defence in the second quarter, the serial fumbler O'Keefe put back up forward, run Magic in short bursts off the back of the square and put Shaw on a wing to run off the Goodes feed. Surely he could do something. This was Freo all over again when the Pav carved us up and he did nothing. I'm all for calm and meditation but not when we are getting the crap beaten out of us. Poor effort by Roosey today - no doubt he will blame a lack of intensity in the second quarter and poor old Horse up in the box.

                      I think Eade is cheating.

                          Definitely.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

"It?s just up to the players to dig themselves out."

As a response to an unanswered 13 goal deficit I find this coaches response not only unsatisfactory but highly revealing as well. What could he have done?

1.Flood the forward line of the Bulldogs.Fill it with Swans players, force ball ups and stoppages to stop the momentum
2.Instruct the Swans to stop handballing at every opportunity and hold possession, kick backwards if necessary to stop the momentum of the Dogs
3.Run Jolly/MOK/Hall as loose men in defence
4.Swap personell.get Bevan away from the goal front,(sorry Connolly)take Ablett off
5.instruct the players to go man on man
6.Instruct players to just hang on till 1/2 time then regroup.just force the ball wide, hug the boundary, deny the Bulldogs the corridor

Roosey can't explain how the Swans can go from solid good performance against Geelong to crushing performance against us yet we outscore them in the second half. It sure looks like game preparation to me or are the Dogs that good for 4 games in a row? Time to wake up to Eade who unfortunately is not a great guy like Roosey,is not loved by the players like Roosey but is a better coach.
