Thornton - agree 100% - the boy will be a gun
    Smith - yes
Currie & Pike - are you suggesting playing 3 or 4 ruckman? Assuming White fits your 'youth' idea and he plays forward, we would be way too top heavy.

The idea of playing kids is nice in theory but at the moment most are either injured, returning from injury or simply not up to it.

Yet he almost destroyed the Cats on his 300th game.. too many fickle thoughts filtering through this thread..

McVeigh to be dropped has to be the worst call though.

Well just what is Crouch adding to the team? Sure he tags OK still but that about it. By the way he had less possessions than almost any other defender because he plays just like we did three seasons ago. Defenders can't just be taggers especially small defenders. They must run off their opponents. Not only has Crouch never done this why on earth would his style change at the age of 31. In case you missed it this is a rebuilding season. Much better to give Laidlaw and Smith a run and gain valuable firsts experience than play Crouch who is surely in his last season. If he was a KPP or a playmaker different story but as a one dimensional tagger just what is he contributing to the rebiulding of the teams future? Zilch
Im with u. I'd rather have a younger player BUT he has been in some very good form and u can't just drop him. He has kept Burgoyne and Akermanis quite so he has been tagging very well.

White looks like he is a forward or even a tall winger. Its strange because he is very versatile, athletic, so I reckon we should play him on the wing. Just try and alternate between different positions.

Aren't we missing something? Both our full forward and our full back will most probably be gone next year or more subject to injury.BBH our CHF could well be gone.If we are Not in rebuilding mode ,we dam well should be.We don't need 4 ruckmen.White is versatile,Pyke could be anything with his pace and Currie will be a classic ruckman. So groom 2 of these guys for KPP (White and Pyke),groom Currie for ruckman and to hell with too tall.We have more than our fair share of small crumbing types and I would have Vespa in next week in place of Moore. He offers more. Pyke I would keep as a ruck support in the two's but let him learn KPP ..say CHB and CHF and see how he goes.Currie in the 1's along with Thorton and Laidlaw.Out Moore,Grundy,Ablett.,Malceski

From the article quoted above -
?It?s easy to look down the stats sheet and say, ?I?ve come away with 30 [touches] and I?ve kicked a goal? or ?I?ve come away with 25?,? Roos said of the heavy loss against the Bulldogs.

?The reality is that when the game was up for grabs, for 40 minutes, we probably had one winner and that was Crouchy [Jared Crouch].

              Okay - I'm convinced Connolly isn't Roosy.

As soon as Roos stops playing Grundy down back the better. My God I can't believe he hasn't realised that Reg plays his best footy up forward.

There are some posters on this forum who must have the football knowledge of a gnat. We've been looking for a key position player to replace BBH when he leaves and we've got him - Johnston. (KPP are as scarce as rocking horse dung so what makes people think that Pyke can be turned into one in 6 months!) We've got a gun on baller when he comes to the club full-time next year - Hannebury. And we've got a gun CHB when he's recovered from injury - Murphy. Crouch was brilliant last week. Vesper has played a game in the ressies and came off at 3/4 time - he won't play in the ones this week. Forget Smith and MOD they won't survive the cut at the end of the year. Moore dominated junior footy when he was a big body among kids - he's now a small guy among taller and faster and more skillful men.

For mine the outs will be Ablett and Grundy.

He's down back because we have nobody else when the opponent stretches our defence. We used to have Leo, LRT, B2 and Teddy all in the defensive 50 at once. Now we only have the latter 3. As such, Grundy is moving down back at times to help out. This is not ideal, and I reckon a better option would be to chuck White down back and bring in Currie/Pyke, at the expense of a smaller player like Ablett.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

For a while it seemed the Swans players were having a competition to give away the next goal - and Bevan, LRT and Shaw starred in that comp. The first two had to work to give away frees and Shaw looking then hand passing to a teammate about to be tackled was an amazing brain fade.

I posted last week that this was a danger game for Roos to be outcoached. He was, again. I see no reason right now to think he'll find a way to win against Malthouse or Craig. He's a good coach and deserves the job but his blind spots can frustrate.
Agree with your observation. Many elementary mistakes were made in Vs bulldog when the game needed to be won. We didn't have self belief.

Credit must be given to Roos for the new gameplan for more direct run through corridor. It is the poor players execution of the new play that is undoing the new game plan.

From the tape, it could be easily identified who can be part of this bold plan and have the pace, smart iq and confidence. Those on borderline should double up on pace training now or voluntary give up the place for Swan sake.

The rewards will come from us going with the quick game flow. When it comes, the fruits be consistently sweet, as shown by consistent Geelong/bulldog in recent years, so confident on pace games movement that they become routine today. Simple mistakes by opponents would be capitalised by them in quick time, as in Vs Geelong and Vs bulldog game.

I say persevere. Stay the new course. We will learn and be stronger from it.

Aw, for a while I thought your were referring to my groomed thatch.

Being a balanced thinker Roos was probably thinking "Wow we'd be over 100 points down if Aker was allowed to play as he has the past few weeks!" And "if a few of our other defenders like Bevan and Ablett and LRT were playing as well as Crouchy we'd still have a chance of winning this game."
