interesting stats on who we've played.

So far this year we have played 10 teams... These include the top 4 teams ALL AWAY FROM HOME in saints, geelong, bulldogs and brisbane. and 5th place carlton at home.

Only team we haven't played in the top 8 is collingwood.

Yet to play melbourne, kangaroos, adelaide and essendon who are all in the bottom 8.

So yes our form has been up and down...but from what most people predicted at the start of the year for us..To be in the 8 n only one game off 3rd after 10 rounds...not a bad effort really.

We're not badly placed so far at 5-5.

Against the top 4 teams away we were well beaten.
We've lost all our 5 away games comfortably.

At home we've won all our games, but our form has been up and down.

    Big test next 3 weeks.

Now that is interesting. I thought we have only played five games and were spectators at the other 5 we allegedly played in.

      Hmmm........very interesting.

like to see you do better mate.

We've lost to Saints at telstra, geelong at shell n freo at subiaco...we haven't beaten any of these teams there for a long long long time. (not since roos took over if i recall correctly)

Brisbane were due for a win against us and are playing very well this year.

Extremely Dissapointing first half against the dogs but they were pretty awesome too...pushing geelong all the way the week before.

Yes we've played some terrible quarters this year and it's costs us...but everyteam does. Even Geelong n St Kilda don't win every quarter.

You can all knock the boys n call for lots of changes after every loss but the reality is we're actually doing alright and we're introducing some new talent at the same time.

And what new talent have we seen in the last 4 weeks?
Meredith has gone (dropped, now injured).
Pyke only got a couple of games.
          Thornton has gone.
White is still hanging in there.

And except for Shaw the team is pretty much the same as last year.

There is nobody in the reserves that could do as good a job as Crouch at shutting down an opponent.

Say we had selected Thornton/Laidlaw/Smith instead of Crouch. What do we get? 5 extra possessions at the most (I don't think we could reasonably expect any of those players to pick up 20 or more possessions upon returning to the side). What do we lose? Aker, instead of having 8 possessions and no goals, has his average, 20 disposals and 2 goals. Now what would be more beneficial to the Swans, do you think?

Is this near-obsessive campaign a diversion so no-one will get around to discussing how Bevan should be one of those in the long line of potential candidates for Reserve Grade footy this weekend?

In the line? He should be near the front of it, particularly if he wants to continue randomly shoving opponents in the back 45 metres from goal. That even got a run on On the Couch last night.

You add the next games against Hawthorn and Collingwood, and that makes it 8 games out of 12 against top eight sides.

I like to divide the rest of the season into blocks.

                        Rounds 11-13 Hawthorn-Collingwood-Adelaide
Very tough, although just one win might be OK. Not only are Collingwood and Adelaide are bogie team, they're both in form. Against the grain of recent history I nominate an Olympic Stadium win against the Piesl

                        Rounds 14-17 North- Essendon-Carlton-Melbourne
This may be the make or break period of the season. The pressure will really be on to win at home in the first two. Notwithstanding that the Carlton game is the same day as the Hall of Fame dinner, I think the Blues will finally win a game against Sydney. A Melbourne win in Canberra may the first game of the year that breaks the home-and-away nexus. So I predict 3 wins

                        Rounds 18-20 Saints-Richmond-Geelong
An upset win against the Saints in on the cards. They are a very good team, but not good enough to keep winning right up to round 18. Should win our first truly away game against the Tigers, (Melbourne in Canberra does not quite count). Geelong will win, resulting in Sydney's first home loss of the year. So I predict 2 wins.

                        Rounds 21-22 Collingwood-Brisbane
Will go with recent history, a loss at the G against Collingwood, and a win at the SCG against the Lions. So I predict 1 win.

Overall, that's 7 more wins, a 12-10 result, and hopefully a top 6 home final.

I'm still not convinced he actually 'shoved him in the back'. The camera angle is poor. I was sitting exactly on the other side, so my angle is not much better, but my take is when Bevan knew it was going over their heads he propped and the Doggies player kept going, then exaggerated contact in the back when it came.

I reckon Roosy's message to Bevan could easily have been "What u did to prop and keep him under the ball was good, but put your hands in the air as if attempting to mark, hold your ground and there can be no chance of being pinged for hands in the back". The actual 'dragging' may well have been a regular rotation which happens 50 times a game when somebody is lining up a set shot for goal.

Was a ridiculous free kick that wasnt even in the contest. His frees against count has drastically reuced over a few seasons ago and he rarely gets pinged. But if it was discussed on On The Couch thats a clincher!!!!
