Walls will be hanging out to ask Baz the serious question on why he doesn't play in the ruck more often
At risk of many howls of derision, Walls penchant for suggesting the use of misfiring forwards in the ruck is perhaps not as nutty as we (me included) have thought of late. Before howling me down, please, humour me and read on ....

I was dusting off some videos the other day and stumbled across the Port v Swans quallie of 2003 - you know - the one were we had no chance, micky's hammy had gone in the last round of the season, roos was on crutches and Port were a tearaway ladder leading looking to shake their perennial chokers tag. Swans were given no chance, but blew em away in the first half, and then held on with injuries to Tadhg and others to post one of the club's best victories by 12 points.

What struck me was that the rucks for that game were Goodes and LRT, with Hall pinch hitting around the ground for five hitouts (Goodes had 20 and LRT 3).

As one who has also blown raspberries at the tv every time walls trots out his "Hall into the ruck" line, it was a sobering moment to think that hey, maybe there's something in it?!?! Certainly Hall's ruck work in that game hadn't stayed in my memory bank of a game I often fondly remember!

I'm now getting my hardhat on and heading down a hole for safety - but happy to hear all your thoughts - good and bad! Blog on chaps (and chappettes)!

SwansFan, we are not all blowing raspberries at you, in fact I assume that there is a break in play as we all shift our attention to the tv. Me, I forgot about channel 1.....I am too old for this. But it is a sight to see BBB rucking isn't it. Not too shabby either.

Oh and I guess you and me and many many others get that game out and bask in the glory of it all. As once mentioned b efore, it is possible to do a mexican wave with 4 people, and aeroplane shirtless round the kitchen (the blokes that is, with me it would be a sad sad sight). It remains a delicious moment in time.

There is a quartet of absolute faves - that game, Nick's game, the 96 prelim and of course the grannie. Beautiful refuges when things more current aren't so rosy! Having been subjected to Port fans' usual hospitality at the regular season game at AAMI that year, was one of the sweetest moments ever watching that win (regrettably from the lounge room!)

Hally's on in the background now - not much of an insight, and they've gone pretty easy on him (is a challenge to walk and chew gum at the same time, but I'm coping ... just)

Main feeling coming through from him is a bit of sadness and even a bit of despondency about it all.

Still bugs me that media, roos, fans etc all acknowledge that he gets different treatment from other players, but that all he can do is just suck it up and get on with things. THAT IS JUST PLAIN WRONG! No player should be treated differently by the umpires! They should be ADJUDICATING WHAT THEY SEE!

Roos said that his biggest disappointment this year is the injury to the younger players and not being able to give them a taste of senior footy to any extent.

He said that he would not be a 25 year coach and when asked by Hird how long he had left he said he didn't know.

                    Didn't talk about Pyke.

Roos said the Swans did everything they could to get OKeefe back to Victoria.

Said Kennelly had purchased a potato farm near Kilkenny and was not likely to return.

Leo Barry might be back in 3 weeks after bye.

SWans next premiership?, side stepped the answer like a Garry Jack run out of the back line for Australia.

                    That was about it.

He also said that you treat each player differently and talking to Hall during a game (1/4 time, 1/2 time or when he's dragged) is not a good idea. Hall doesn't absorb things at when his mind's on the game.

The players weren't angry with Hall - everyone just gives and accepts honest opinions.

Kennelly is now part owner of an Irish Castle/B&B.

He also pointed out Mike's predictions for our team's position on the ladder in years such as 2003, 2005 and 2006 (on or near the bottom). But he did it with a grin on his face.

I couldn't help myself about modifying the latest news from our recently dearly departed.

They say that he has a television in every room which shows the Swans 2005 Grand Final 24 hours a day. The sales pitch is "Watch Kennelly on the telly. He also apparently is giving Irish jig classes so that you can dance along with him during the medal presentation.

I'm sure the Swans Membership Dept will run a tour over there in the off season.
