    Murphy

    Going Home???

Brendan Murphy believes he could be back playing Gaelic football with Rathvilly and Carlow next year if he doesn't prove himself in Aussie Rules in the next three months.

That reads (to me) as if he has every intention of staying but he's just not certain that the club will keep him on if he doesn't show something over the rest of his contract.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Yeah, same here. He says that he is worried the club won't offer him another contract next year.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

My reading of it is the club has offered him or has signified their intent to offer him a new contract, but he's worried they may change their minds.

Yep, agreed ugg. I'm not going to read anymore into it.

I guess he's writing for his Irish audience and trying to make the point that he can't take anything for granted.

But he can't seriously be worried that the club is going to change their mind - especially not on the basis he hasn't made his debut after less than one season playing the game competitively.
