No I don't think there is always a great atmosphere at the SCG (this years Port Adelaide game was a giant yawn due to the smashing we were giving them) and I've only missed a few games over the last 18 years, So you could say I've obviously attended a lot of games at the SCG

My point was that the Swamp gets all the big games which leans towards bigger crowds and atmosphere. By the way,how many games at the swamp have gone over the SCG's capacity this year?

In other words how many games could have filled the SCG?

Have you ever sat up the back in that top tier at Swamplands?

Once was enough for me, There would be a better view to be had from Centre Point Tower.

Can't wait for the second team to come to Sydney so all these people that love ANZ can @@@@ off and go watch Western Sydney out at that @@@@ hole.

Of course Homebush gets all the big games. That was the idea - big crowds would help the club and code in Sydney. The SCG was too small a pond to achieve growth objectives. And from the period 2003-2007, when we were playing well, it worked very well.

You're assuming that everyone who attended the games at Homebush would have gone to the SCG, but I suspect that would not be the case. We've got quite a few supporters who live outside the inner Sydney and find it too hard to get into and out of the SCG.

Gee, I bet the club would be impressed to hear you've happy to see the back of more than quite a few paying supporters. That's just what they're afraid of.

The way some people carry on about Homebush is ridiculous.

I am neutral with my loyalties on the two venues, but I much prefer ANZ.

Better facilities, better public transport IMO.

Have to agree with Ern here. The atmosphere at the 96 and 05 final quarters were unsurpassed. The SCG pulsated on both nights. It is a much more enclosed ground and just reeks of history and drama. ANZ never really makes it. Awful ground.

I'm assuming that you're assuming that those that prefer the SCG attended Swamplands on Saturday, I know 4 that didn't.

As there are people outside the city that find the SCG a pain to get to, there are city slickers that couldn't be bothered to travel to the most boring place on earth

While fitzpatrick says he will be absent himself from discussions on this matter, surely the discussions will have already taken place as to Western Sydneys playing grounds and therefore he is already privy to the plans in regard this stadium and the showgrounds. Insider trading??

When R1 2012 Blacktown v Sydney sells out at ANZ, you'll get an atmosphere you could never have dreamed about in this city, including the SCG.

We should be able to play well anywhere mate. The GF isn't at the SCG so we really need to stop relying on it.

                              True enough!

I still believe that the a full SCG has a better atmosphere than a half full ANZ. Imagine 44,000 crammed into the SCG on Saturday night. Could that have made the difference? I believe so.

Of course it would be stupid to suggest that the SCG always has a great atmosphere. My point is that with all things being equal (eg Closeness of the game) the atmosphere at the SCG is better than ANZ.
