Went once to AAMI, got abused beyond belief, come very close to a few fights. Left in absolute disgust and vowed never to return. They are worst than Collingwood supporters of the seventies at Victoria Park. Vowed to hate anything crows like they where Carlton.
I have had really hairy days at Footy Park. In 2004 we needed security to protect us from this group of bogan ferals with mullets sitting in the next bay called the Crow Army. If security didn't stand at the end of the row there's have even been a fight. BonBon's mum even turned around & said to this guy behind him that he was common!

Weirdly, yesterday in our area things were totally fine. Security were brilliant (as they always are in Adelaide), and hardly anyone said anything aggressive at all. When I got chants going some of them didn't like it. But as opposed to booing or throwing things like Eagles do, they proceeded to try and start Adelaide chants to drown us out. No problems with that at all. We didn't even need a police escort out of the ground this time either. Most of the Crows fans around us were families & people of all ages.

The Crows have this marketing campaign "The 19th man". At every quarter there were signs coming up on the screen saying "We need you". People were waving "19th man" flags in red blue & gold. And people were given these weird paper clapper things that meant the whole ground was a clacking buzzing sea of noise whenever we shot for goal.

Still though there are lot of Crows supporters who never followed the game pre-1991. Beers at AAMI stadium had to be drunk with lids. And you saw quite a few people leaving the ground as early as the 1o minute mark of the game. People wearing Crows scarves & beanies wanting to beat the admittedly horrific traffic, in a game the Crows were winning & were leading in. If a plastic state team franchise like that is the future of football, then I have grave fear for it to be honest

An empty seat cannot abuse you mate!

You realise I had a spare ticket. You could have sat next to me. Even could have given you a flag!

Clackers eh. Now that's interesting that the AFL allows that, as you could see it as parochial bad sportsmanship given a Swans fan in Melbourne was banned from blowing a trumpet at Melbourne games because it was supposedly off putting to all and sundry.

          Wasn't it a bell mate?

Plus there is the AFL cracking down on both us & Freo using a drum at games. The drums used to really get everyone organised. Still gives me chills hearing the !! !!! !!!! SYD-NEY go all the way around the ground at the Lions Prelim final in 2003. As Pim Verbeek said, "it gave me, how do you say, goose skin".

Thanks for that flag, all I'll need is a crash helmet for me and those around me next time.

They always hand out those inflatable thunder-stick things at Homebush Swans games. So we are no different to be honest.

One major problem Adelaide had in the early days in relation to the fans turning on their own players and each other, was the SANFL loyalty.

When they were winning and playing well, they were all Crows players, but when things were going ordinary, as happens in clubs fledgling years, they were 'Norwood, Glenelg, Sturt' players etc.

If a player made a mistake, the cry would come from one fan, "Get back to filthy Norwood". Of course this would not go down well with a Norwood supporting Crow who would turn on another player having a poor game because he was from Centrals...and so on...and so on.

I have this on good authority from one of my besties who played for Port Magpies and loved watching the Crows fans turn on each other.

Didn't actually get donged but I could see it could be a risk if I got too vigorous with a flag or if there were 20 of those things around.

Not conscious of yelling at a ball being punched over the side line. However, I do like accuse payers on certain occasions of deliberately aiming for the sideline because their skills can?t be that crap.

Obviously they're not swans players then

                        Obviously.

Thinking about I don't look like Santa Claus if we mean a white beard and dressed in red. I was wearing a Swan's beanie though.

I was pretty happy with the Adelaide crowd. Didn't get abused once. Totally a much better experience then going to Perth.

Thanks for the flag JF, was an interesting experience waving a beer soaked flag

Turning on him! I'm advocating half a season playing in the nations capital, on full contract, picking up a lazy 20 or so possies. Rather than embarassing himself being exposed as over the hill, clogging up the list and stopping a kid getting a go. A true servant of the club would pull the pin. I even pray for him.
