When does he get the tap?

There are few excuses for Ted. He's getting the nut without pressure and then incorporates a blend of the following:

FUMBLES A THE FEET
HAND PASSES CAN'T HIT TARGETS
FOOT PASSES TO THE WORST OPTIONS OUT OF DEFENCE

All of the above is resulting into opposition goals in the 4th quarter of near on.

Ted tries hard but has to go back and get his confidence.

If I heard correctly he appeared to be taking charge of the defensive huddle.

I also by chance walked past the team bus in town before the game and caught his eye. From the slight nod of acknowledgement I got, I?d say he?s either a serious chap, was tense, was psyching himself up or gets sick of silly Swan?s fans - don?t know what conclusions we can draw from that.

Yes, he's had a couple of bad moments under pressure, but geeze people are being quick to put him to the sword. He is still a valuable contributor, and two iffy-games in which he has done some stupid things is not enough to see him dropped.

but when you have Grundy Bevan & LRT in the backline. And Mattner being told to kick it wide to a player who isn't even wanting it after a kick out. You get use to multiple clangers in our backline.

I blame Roos for having a side with glaring skill deficiencies yet coaching them with a high-risk handball/play-on crazy game plan that is A) completely inflexible B) places the players, suspect skills & all under stress & C)is well known by top coaches who instruct players to attack certain players who will more than likely handball under pressure or will opt to kick to themselves from kick-outs.

Teddy made horrible errors yesterday. But given our game plan & the fact that for much of the second half it was really notable from close range how many people neither made leads or were actually ready to take the ball at all, these errors are just a matter of time.

The sad thing is that the young kids are often thrown in the deep end playing this style of high risk game plan. No wonder the kids lose confidence when they make mistakes.

You say iffy, I say effy when those moment and games result in game breaking momentum swings.

I have been a fan and really appreciate his endeavour but this clanger rate is not worth ignoring...it's losing us close games.

Teddy Richards,when he's good he's very good but when he's bad he is really horrid.
Has too many brain fades when forward pressure is applied.

LRT, (next to the boundary line), he has become a strong mark of late.

I'd kick it to LRT every time. He's a quality user of the ball when he gets it right, and he gets it wrong far less than most people seem to think.

Correct. Bolton should be told he's never allowed to get injured again - it's probably cost us two games!

Ironically I think Ted Richards is similar to Jobe Watson....

Jobe was horrendous for years... I remember seeing him absolutely butcher the footy in a game against us at ANZ in 04 and thought...this kid is stuffed (clanger central) but look at what time has done for him.

Ted certainly isnt the worst....and he is a young bloke who loves playing for the Swans...and to be truthful has had more good games than bad I think.

It's going to be interesting times in the next few years, but I think Ted has a future worth investing in.

Most of his mistakes involve hospital passes or fumbles, rather than actual clangers, which involve directly giving the ball to the opposition.
