Please explain why Barry Hall is a thug surely a couple of the incidents at the weekend were as bad as Hall's one against Staker - Brennan and Sylvia's. Will these players now be targetted by the umpires, the press and the tribunal for future soft incidents the way Hall is? Let's be honest in isolation Hall's latest incidents are not much and he is still being punished for the Staker incident.

Unfortunately players are judged by their reputation, instead of singling out each incident on it's merits. Brennan's headbutt was so much worse than Hall's hit on Rutten. -
But unless he has carry over points it is not up to either the umpires or the tribunal to judge him on previous indiscretions. The club I can accept but not the umpires and let's be honest the umpires do umpire him more harshly.Comment

Aside from the thread title (which I thought was quite confusing and irrelevant to the actual question posed in the OP), what does the tribunal have to do with how the media and the umpires see him? The OP asked why Hall is a thug. It's because he often does thuggish things. Brennan and Sylvia (though this is becoming debatable) do not. That's why they are judged differently in the media. As for the tribunal, I don't think Hall has received worse treatment than these guys.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Interesting to read some posters trying to defend Brennan and the fact that he only got 1 week. He really got 3 weeks and it was downgraded to 1 week for previous good behaviour and early plea.
As the defenders of Goodes will remember when he got 1 week but was able to play due to the same circumstances if the rabble don't want to listen they won't listen.
E.g. "WTF Brennan only got 1 week for a blantant headbutt and our bloke got 3 for a lesser act..our club is vicitmised. Bennan is a protected species..blah blah blah""The Dog days are over, The Dog days are gone" Florence and the MachineComment
