Harley to the Swans in 2010?

Talk is that Tom Harley will retire at the end of the year and head to Sydney where his better half has employment. Talk of him at the Swans or involved in the West Sydney venture.

He MUST be pursued by the Swans as part of the coaching panel. Not just for his defensive expertise but for his knowledge of the Geelong way of doing things (just as St Kilda headhunted Leigh Tudor).

And while I'm on coaching, Longmire must return to being forward coach. Our forward line has suffered since he went to the midfield and our midfield hasn't improved (gone backwards?)
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

That's my understanding as well, that he will be coming to Sydney to live because of his partner's (fiancee?) employment. When he appeared on "One week at a time" he was a bit evasive when then hinted at a role he might have with the West Sydney side. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Coaching staff nothing - he'd be terrific at centre half back for a couple of years. He's only about 30.
A cheap premiership captain? We'd be mad not to pursue him.

His leadership skillls and appealling personality make him a real potential asset to the club, likely as an assistant coach.

The thread title looked to me like the Lucky Knickers bat signal being put up in the sky! I can just imagine your heart skipping a beat when you read it, and you clicking the link with your fingers crossed.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Trade him for Bazza, although i shudder at the thought of Bazza being at my most hated side (or Bazza playing for another team ).

I don't think so, he hasn't held down CHB for Geelong for a number of years now, he plays more as a 3rd tall. His form has been ordinary this year and he has had a number of injuries, he's simply not up to taking on the best forwards anymore.

Would welcome him to the coaching panel though

He keeps breaking. BUT he is definitely faaabulous to look at and that counts for quite a lot....probably not enough to play him but. Well no perhaps not. Sigh. I think he is a great communicator so would probably make a great teacher. Lets sack the least good looking of our coaches and take Tom on in his place.

Absolutely spot on. He was completely exposed against Brisbane without Scarlett, Milburn, Mackie and co.

There is actually a big thread on the main board of another footy forum website which shall remain nameless which has an in depth discussion about Harley and his form (or lack thereof)

I am like a Lola on Meerkat Manor when I hear his name....

As for his form, the backline for the cats on the weekend was the equivalent of leaving Ted in charge with his trusty sidekick Reg. I was amazed they managed to hold Brown/Bradshaw to 7 goals.

One suspects Daniel Rich had more to do with that effort.

Rich will poll very well in the Brownlow on debut.

Agree. Is he a rising star nom?
He would also go close to their B&F you'd think. Very accomplished player isn't he.
