'Don't retire, Barry, please don't retire.'

A good article from The Age about the farewell fromm Saturday. The quote below bought a tear to the eye.

"But then just before I went out, a little boy came up to me and he had No.1 on his back, and he was bawling his eyes out, and he was going: " 'Don't retire, Barry, please don't retire.' That just set me off. I gave him a cuddle and said: 'It's all right, Mate, I'll still be around, it's OK.'

I thought this post was about Leo.

However I remember the 'other' Barry.
He was a pretty good player before he turned into a crazy, unstable, schizophrenic, monster.
I'm surprised people allow their kids anywhere near him!
If Leo continues the form he's shown this year, he will warrant being kept on the list without doubt

            Champion of the Club.

Since I've been supporting - well, any sport really - I haven't seen a super star go from playing well to retirement so quickly.

Makes you understand the purpose of retirement rumours - press conferences halfway through the season etc.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Well, the fifteen other teams are probably pretty happy right about now
And the Bulldogs may be the biggest winners of all

Apart from the whole punching thing, at least he went out with his footy dignity intact. 4 goals on Rutten (equivalent of 6-7 on most defenders) in his 250th match. Champion of the club, Premiership Captain, Club Leading Goal Scorer, All-Australian. If I were a small child I would cry for you Barry Hall.

They should start a swans elite sports academy and actually name it in your honour. Big, Bad, Bustling, Barry Hall Hall. It just rolls off the tongue.

The Swans are now extremely boring without Hall playing, it was such a pathetic way end a very entertaining career. When you saw the biff in State of Origin last nite, Hall Mosquito tap on Rutten was a non event.

I wonder if he will take out Best Club Man at the B&F this year. Has my vote!
