    Sit on it, and rotate!

    The Round 14 clash between Sydney and North Melbourne at the SCG had a staggering 245 interchange moves.

    Given the contest lasted 122 minutes, that equates to a player heading for the pine every 30 seconds.

    Sydney made 127 moves - the most ever recorded.

    It was a wake-up call to those who thought bench rotations had hit a plateau.

    Rotations are up 10 per cent from last season and gaining momentum approaching the finals.

    After a surge in the past fortnight, teams are averaging almost 89.2 rotations a game.

      I sat behind the bench on Satdy arvo and was absolutely staggerd at the number of rotations we were pulling. On average there were 3 sometimes 4 at every goal plus several particularly when there were stoppages on the Brewongle wing.
      I understand the theory but I've been getting stuck into my sons U12 coach for pulling kids on and off too often because the boys don't get a chance to settle into a rhythm in their position. I'm sure to a certain extent the same can be said for a senior team. It feels like yet another defensive strategy (not allowing the opposition to to be go to a stable man on man if we are changing so often) and it's over the top. Surely you can acheive the same result of a players pre-planned game time by leaving them on and off the field a bit longer rather than changing them around so often. They expend a lot of energy running on and off all the time FFS.

          Considering how we played on the weekend, it's hardly an advertisment for increased rotations.

          The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

                  And as the official recorder of said stat, I can tell you that day was an absolute nightmare. I didn't see a single ball kicked during the first half and not many in the second.

                      Whilst the numbers were ridiculous I was more concerned with the organisation of them. Many times the players didn't know if they were coming on/staying off. It didn't look very controlled.
