I did read your post, in fact I read the whole thread!
With all due respect mate, theres no way in the world you good Sydney folk could possibly have shown the same 'passion' as the old Bloods themselves at a Bloods Hall of fame function to honour the Bloods, I saw 80-90yr olds crying at the footage and looking at the memrobilia etc looking at our familys names, if you seen some faces on the night youd understand what this night meant to all South Melbourne Bloods! South Melbourne Football Club was our family for over 100yrs and it was a very welcome night that meant so much some of you couldnt even begin to comprehend!
Saying that I understand that your hearts in the right place and sure you guys are very passionate about our great club but bedford was right the first time and shouldnt have to justify himself to you and Im sure he meant no disrespect!
Im not trying to disrespect the good Sydney folk, but to say you would have shown equal passion is disrespectful to the Bloods ourselves, in fact it doesnt feel right to hear that from you guys believe it or not(im sure you meant no offence), again no disrespect is meant by my post as we all follow the same great team! Anyway this isnt a pissing contest, Go Bloods!Comment

We all follow the same club and to say that Sydney supporters would not have shown the same passion, whether you intended to or not, disrespected the many passionate supporters in Sydney.
23yrs? so your a newbie, no disrespect intended mate but you will never understand our passion and heartbreak, luckily for you..
(but your posts are heart warming)Comment

Is BA a supporter or a member ? nobody is trying to put a wedge between both lots of supporters. Big Al are you a member, would you have gone to a hall of fame in sydney, did you go to the team of the century in sydney, have you gone interstate for games.Comment

One thing I can assure you that we have some wonderful supporters up here in Sydney (would like more mind you) and i see the passion week in week out...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

No ones suggesting that your passion for the Swans isnt there mate at whatever level, but passion for the 'Bloods' cant be underestimated, and to suggest the good Sydney folk would be equally as passionate about the Bloods at a Bloods Hall of Fame night is just stupid and ignorant! (but i understand what you/they meen and I love it)Comment

Wonderful supporters or members ? the membership in Sydney is about 18,000 and falling, in Melbourne where we get 5 games it is about 8,500.Comment

Yes
Yes - wanted to go to Melb for this one but i had an unavoidable conflict
No - Team of the Century was in Melb wasn't it? (Before a Collingwood game???)
Yes - Once a year I save up enough to travel to Melb for a feast of footyLast edited by Big Al; 23 July 2009, 09:03 AM...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. Why does answering yes to any or all of these questions make one a more passionate supporter then the other?Comment

I've been a supporter for many years.
I've only been a member for 5.
I still have a deep passion for the club.
I also agree with Big Al, that your first post was unnecessary.
It's post like these that rile our northern neighbours.
We are all here for the ONE reason, we don't need an US and THEM idealology.Comment

Correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to equate longevity and financial committment with passion. Scott (one of the most passionate supporters I know) has demonstarted this to be False. Also my 7 year old nephew who joined up this year loves the Swans and enjoys going to the football with his loud uncle. Is his passion in question?
As Scott said it's a shame we have supporters on both sides of the border who seem to have an US and THEM mentality. Look at the 2005 Grand Final banner, this is what the all our supporters should be about...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors.
