    After match function in Canberra??

I've been to a few Canberra games but this is the first time i am staying that night as i am the only driver there and back ...

I was wondering if there are any after match functions on in Canberra? (i'm assuming not as i think i would have heard of one before now??!)

Probably not, as most will want to get back into their cars and head up the highway sooner rather than later. There is a "pre-match" instead - another brunch.

I am still contemplating the drive down and back in one day. I had in mind that I'd be heading down on Saturday to watch the reserves, before Ugg pointed out they're not playing. I did a one-dayer once before and swore never to do it again, but I may land up doing so again this weekend.

Having done it once and gone far too close to falling asleep on the return journey, I vote for you not trying it unless you've got someone to share driving. It's just that critical 30-45 minutes too far, for one person to safely do it in one day.

Hop on the Murrays bus. They are pretty quick now that they take the M5. And somebody else gets to do the driving.

The train to Canberra is annoying. Goes around the wrong side of Lake George. Takes too long.

seriously you guys are soft. I've driven up from melbourne for a game and turned round and driven to where I was staying which is another hour out of sydney after a game (most memorable the geelong semi in 2005 ! but have managed a few collingwood losses as well.)

            Bingo.
It's only a three hour drive!!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Bwahahahahaha, you city slickers are so soft. (reminds me of the numerous people who say it is too far to come and visit us when we live in the country, but they are always happy for us to do the drive to visit them, last time I looked it was the same distance each way!) When I lived in Swan Hill I would travel 4 hours to Melbourne do work stuff then drive home again, and the same with the 3 1/2 hour drive from St Arnaud to melbourne. When you live in the country you have to do it or you feel so isolated.

A Kanga supporting mate of mine drove from Pucka to Canberra went to the game and then drove home again...it's 6 hours each way!!!

How many times have I done the trip from Canberra to Sydney for the Swans. It's not the trip (whether by bus/motorcycle/or driving) that's a pain as much as doing it in one day and having to recover the next day. And if you split it over two days a good time is had in Sydney but there goes the weekend and it's off to work we go.

Is it the breakfast at Ainslie Footy Club that is the pre-match? Where else do people meet before and after?

Everyone come back to my place. I won't be here though, we are doing a day trip to Sydney... (seriously, every year it seems someone has something on in Sydney that we cannot avoid on one (or both) game days down here)
