ROK's turn ...

Yeah, it's part of the deal of being a player. Some sap has to front the media each week. I'm sure we all cringed when we saw the headline. I can't imagine anyone taking it seriously, especially after Roos' one-liners.The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Again, it's been taken a bit seriously. And it doesn't look just like a simple response to a question - he provides a lot of info.I don't think it's the STFU that people found offensive, it was calling him a @@@@wit for, as BSA5 points out, just answering a pretty lame question from a journo the only way he could be reasonably expected to answer it.
You'd be better off not commenting further in this thread, your defence of your offensive post does you no favours.
But in retrospect it came out too harsh and if it offends you and others and ROK, I apologise unreservedly to you and others and to ROK.Comment

ROK's been in the public eye for some time now. He's a practised @@@@-talker, like most high-profile footballers. Spin a bit of crap about the weekend's results (no doubt first brought up by the journo, as I doubt ROK would have watched the weekend's results all that closely, having a game to prepare for himself, never mind considering the implications for the Swans' very slim finals chances), say the team are still taking a positive approach, and most importantly, end with "who knows?", and you've placated a journo without saying anything substantial.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

I like that he isn't being completely defeatist. And the kids in the side need to know that its not ok to just say "Uncle", or "Tank".Comment

maybe he's trying to lift his profile a bit as he will be one of the inmates on Celebrity Masterchef.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I'm interested - and I was looking at the ladder this morning.
I find the "it's too hard, so all the players and fans should give up and accept defeat" depressing. Gen Y anyone? Two of my happiest moments from footy were beating "unbeatable" Port in a final and beating the unbeaten Saints at the SCG. In both cases, those victories seemed unlikely to lead to a premiership - the win was enough in itself.
..............
I loved those games too. Problem is, they were about 3 seasons apart. We'll need to do that 4 times in 5 weeks if we're to have a look in. Not going to happen.Comment

expecting them to just play and NOT speak, is really going back to the dark ages. These days they're all encouraged to develop skills such as speaking in public as part of their personal development.
