    1996 Grand Final

Anyone watching Fox Sports 1 - the game is being replayed as a "classic" right now?

End of Q1 and Swans leading comfortably.

We don't win, I am pretty sure
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Don't be so negative. We have as much chance of losing this as losing the 2003 Lions final and not being in the Grand Final against the Pies.

Still too painful to watch. I was there, my first GF. Boo hoo. Robbed in the second half.

Let me know how it turns out, I don't have control of the remote at the moment.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Watch Kelly stuff up a simple pass to Lockett in the 2nd Q that turned the game.

my recollection of the game for what it was worth.

I felt it was tight and I didn't expect to win but at 3 qtr time we could dream. But in the last qtr when Dunkley, who was one of the best marks in the league, could have marked in defence but decided to punch (basically uncontested) - it dawned that the lads didn't back themselves and didn't know how to win.

My recollection could be wrong, but I was in the Ponsford stand watching that incident. From that point on we never got a look in.

I don't have Foxtel so can't watch to validate the memory.

I thought I was the only person who remembered that moment as the turning point of the game! A mark and goal by Plugger would have given us a handy break. Instead, if I remember correctly, North swept the ball down the other end, goaled and so began their comeback. (Still love Kells, though!)

Oh boy, my recollection is that Luffy kicked 2 or 3 goals in that first quarter - We lead by 19 (Yes, I have Foxtel, No, I am not watching) ... I also believe Luffy gets shoved into the backline after quarter time ... I have always believed THAT was THE fatal mistake by Eade!!

I can remember going to Randwick the next day to greet the players (helped enormously with the grief) and standing gobsmacked at the size of the shiner on Craig O'Brien.

I only vaguely remember the grannie in 96, don't wanna watch it again! But I do recall that pass others have mentioned. I still think North were the better side and would've still won it.

They made something like 7 prelim finals from 1993-2001 (not sure on exact amount) but it's still a phenomenal achievement.

I cannot remember any of the 1996 or 2006 grannies. I think there is something in that for all of us......I hate losing grannies....

Yes that woeful little dink by Kelly falling short of Plugger. Bugger. I saw it was on Fox, flicked on it momentarily, too painful, my first grannie, the Roos supporters sang their bloody team song more times than I care to remember... would love to have have won that one... for Kelly ironically...

I've never seen the game before. I was a week away from renting out our house and setting off on a three-year motorcycle ride around the world so I packed with a constant background of news about Plugger's groin. So I watched it tonight and was amazed at how much better the game and skills are now. I think the Swans made more poor kicks and handpasses that fell short in that GF than the team did last weekend! I also expected Roos to be better in defence and Plugger to be more dominating at FF. Magic seemed to play HF and way back in defence - and rucked a few times. Jeez our forward line looked bare when Luffy moved into defence.

One of the few joys was seeing Stewie (with a worse mullet than Capper) streaming out of defence with the footy and bombing it long (only sometimes to a Swans player).
