I got the impression he was carrying more than just the usual bruises he must get from the way he plays his footy. He wasn't walking all that easily that night either.
I had doubts he would front up again at Manuka so was surprised to see him there. He didn't play much of the last quarter against Melbourne, my son kept asking where he was (stats for final quarter were '0').
Pretty good example of how much hurt players go through just to represent their team. Regardless of how much you rate a player - it still sends shivers down your spine.

Quite a few gems in there.
Kirky has a few fans in AFL just for being himself ... every game.

It may be time, absolutely thrashed Sat night. If he goes on perhaps he should relenquish his joint captaincy next year as it must be his last and nows the time to pass the baton.

I wouldn't think this appropriate. He is a bit slower, true, but his influence is enormous on and off the ground. He talks and the boys listen. You cannot buy that, it comes from within. Happy enough with our 3 captains. Time on in 2011 to bring in the likes of McVeigh, Moore, Mal (if he hangs in there, he is a good leader).

I must say that I was worried about his game sat night as i have been for a few weeks - he is definitely getting slower and is trailing opponents by greater distances than in the past.

i am sure he will play on - because we have lost so much experience so quickly. But it will be his last go around i reckon and it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't see out the season.

Kirky's on "Open Mike" tonight on Fox Sports (1 I think).
                      IQ is ready.

                      That BF thread is hilarious.

                      From a Carlton supporter ...

Brett Kirk does not run, he jogs on the spot and this causes the world to rotate in the direction he wants to go

Kirk will be the coach of the Sydney Swans after Longmire.

In fact, I doubt Longmire will last more than 3 years, so Kirky better do his apprentiship fast!

Nice article in today's SMH ...

Next generation gives Kirk renewed hope

The Blind Barry thing took a lot out of him.

Kirk strikes me as being as suitable to be a coach as Paul Kelly was to be a board member.

Time will tell but I just don't think it's a path he'll head down.
