Excellent on Open Mike last night, definately keen to play on and his comments about being involved in the coaching side of things later was music to my ears. (Short and sweet about BBB). So focused, so sweet, so good looking, so... okay okay I will stop dribbling.

I know what you mean. You just want to wag your tail and bask in the sunshine of his approval.

Agreed but noticed his hesitation about the time commitment away from his family. I think he said he didn't want to miss any of it. Given this is also Roosy's stated reason for leaving, I can see Kirky having some serious reservations about a coaching role. He'd probably like to watch his own kids play Oz Kick!

Maybe they can create a role for him to train the youngsters in mental as well as physical toughness, and how to stop being tools when they come from other clubs... The dalai lama of the SMFC, with weekends off. Then again, the DL's answer was to give his children was "affection" and not "time", so there's hope yet.

Well, he could take a minor assistant role, that states that he doesn't have to travel from Sydney, at least not often (highly unusual, and we'd be going out of our way to make things easy, but if it meant keeping him around the club, well, I reckon he's probably worth it, after all, we've done a similar sort of thing in reverse with Maxfield, haven't we?). If he's an assistant while Horse is coach, assuming Horse does OK and hangs around, he can watch the kiddies grow up and once they're a bit older, a bit more independent, he can step into a bigger role.

Wouldn't Kirky be a stand out as Welfare Officer. Now that oh, whats his name, can't remember, anyway he has left and he is now BBB's manager, there is a vacancy.

I have been away with work all week but I did get to see the interview on Monday.

I think that is about the best interview of a footballer I have ever seen. Brett Kirk is such an articulate person and evrything he said flowed naturally and was from the heart.

You hear people talk about leadership but they really have no idea what the word means. The way he talked about attitude, desire, understanding others, being strong on the history of the club, strengths and weaknesses etc. and above all when he talked about empowering others around him, and his desire to be there with the next group of players coming through, really epotimised the characteristics of a true leader. The way he spoke and how his career evolved showed to me that he knows he is a good leader, has great empathy with people and has a genuine passion to leave his mark (good traits) on others.

When he spoke about the Bloods ethos and what it meant and the need to continue the culture at the club made me think this bloke has an incredible amount to offer to the club. Someone said he would be a great welfare officer. That I think is selling Kirky very, very short. He wants to give something back to the club and yes he talked about the family quality time etc. but he is not like Roosey because he has no USA content to his life. I get the impression coaching us down the track is not out of the question.

He said his body, mind and heart are still fine and there was no hint that he wouldn't go on next year. I would dearly hope that if he retires after the 2010season he is at least assistant to Longmire because it will be a sorry day when his values leave the club.

Red Rosie, can you send the interview to my PM also please.
