Craig Bird injury

According to Paul Ross on the newest article on the Swans website Craig Bird is out for the rest of season with a 'serious shoulder injury'.

Anyone know anymore about this? I'm devastated for the guy.
I could need some clarification, but if I remember correctly, this occured after a bump/hit from Schneider. Confirm/deny? If so, what an absolute p r i c k!

I'm concerned about Bird's longevity in the game, as I said elsewhere, if his shoulder is going to pop out after such a relatively minor bump.

As for the comment on Schneider, what a load of garbage (like the twits who booed him on the weekend).

Haven't read the article. Bummer if he is though. I don't recall the hit. Don't know if I'd blame Schneider other than having a go at hard, contested and legal football. God knows, I wish that's what our blokes were doing.

FWIW, I don't hold any ill feelings towards Schneider either. Just wish he was doing what he's currently doing wearing the R&W.

I share your concern.It was possibly one of the softest tackle in the game.Birdy is not a physical guy and we have seen him injured in a similar way before.In his favour are the fact that he is young and he must apply himself with massive hours in the gym.The game is getting tougher as the tacklers are definately going in harder.
I hope his shoulder comes up all right.I have had a few shoulder reco's and one is still misplaced.(I can't lift one arm over the shoulder).I had to give up footy because of it and I was playing TAC cup at the time.
I hope Bird can strengthen the muscles around the joint.

I am pretty sure Bird actually popped his shoulder earlier this year - don't remember which round, but I think he missed the following game. Since then, he has shown pain when bumped a few times. I suspect it was why he was left out of the team a few weeks ago but made it back in as an emergency - the medical guys probably said, 'what the hell, may as well play him'.

The one that got him on Saturday was relatively innocuous, but I think it was just the coup de grace.

He was listed in the injuries as an ACL which suggests a reconstruction is not out of the question - but who would know. It may also be his collar bone. A reco would be a big set back, but he'd probably be playing early next season if could keep his fitness base up. As an on ball player, it is less injurious to his career than it would to a KPP.

I think it's a broken shoulder blade which would suggest that it didn't pop out or anything like that and was just an unfortunate injury.

They mentioned in the call that it was a rotor-cuff injury. Jason Ball got one of those from a seemingly innocuous contact and he was out for many weeks.

An angry, angry young man near me was booing Adam and calling him a "dirty traitor", I was about to say something when a Saints fan stood up and shouted at him "His heart was with Sydney, it always has been. He was traded because of the salary cap. Learn your facts! He is a premiership player for you, show some respect! Support your past players."

The angry young Swans fan was quite upset by the outburst, the majority of other Swans fans in the area were quite pleased!
