That question might be better answered by someone who watches the ressies regularly. I have only caught the second half of the last couple of games but Bevo hasn't appeared to me to be carving it up and demanding selection from what I have seen and read here of the match reports.

In Bevos last two outings the team struggled agst (Essendon and Carlton) and he had a couple of sub-par games. Contrasted to Ablett who had a good game agst the blues. In the last three games, Ablett has worked hard in the forward line to create contests and stop the ball rebounding which has lead to scoring opportunities for himself and others. I don't think it matters if he is helping another player lay the tackle - so long as the tackle sticks, we create the stoppage and then a scoring chance.

So, IMO, I belive Ablett is in better form than Bevo, and the structure when we are attacking is working better with him in the side. We've won 2 out of 3 and lost a close one (compared with a couple of smashings in last qtr blowouts from team's we should be closer to).

But back on the topic of trading them, as someone pointed out earlier, natural attrition is taking away 8 (IIRC) of our most senior experienced players. I'd like to see Bevo, Monty and Ablett retained to give us some strong experienced bodies to call on if we find ourselves with injuries to the developing players as we have this year.

If Crouch's body is OK, I can't see why he shouldn't play on next year. He's missed a lot of footy through injury so I wouldn't consider his age as a determining factor for retirement. He's just too smart a player to cut for the hell of it.

And I think it's worth hanging onto a few of these older guys to help with the generational transition we're undertaking.
Damn that Sorcerer! Twenty gold pieces and I'm wankered on rohypnol!

It hasn't occurred to you that the reason he is getting injured alot now is becuase of his age??

IMO the following players should not be in the Swans future plans...
Crouch..he's been a resilient tagger, one of the best in his prime, but he's past it now, he's slowing down and his body appears to be only just hanging in. Certainly he could contribute for one more season...don't see any point in that.
Ablett.. He's tough and has a solid build ...but he has no pace and very poor disposal. We have plenty of other options for his role.
Playfair..He is an ordinary half forward with no pace and a lousy kick, on top of that his hamstrings are shot. Must go to make way on the list.
Many of the young guys are unknown quantities due to little or no gametime in the seniors. So it's hard to rate them.

Agree totally on Playfair Ernie. Some people will say that we could do with him alongside White and Johnston next year but I don't agree. I see absolutely no need for an average, injury-prone tall forward who can't kick.

It also appears Goodesy will be playing mostly on the forward line in the future.

I bags first push then! ))))))))))))))))>CROUCH))))))))))))))

Jared Crouch = too old & taking the place of a younger midfield type.

Or is he one of Roos' favourites? Like Leo Barry?

Never a truer word were spoken. Even if he was 38 years old, "I reckon I've had a good run, now it's time to step aside and let some young kids have a shot" just ain't his style.

A few of our young guys will be more impressed with the coach's column in the Tele this morning than his big news yesterday.

I'm really excited about the next 12 months and really looking forward to next season and working with our generation-next players like Dan Hannebery, Lewis Johnson, Jesse White, Matty O'Dwyer, Patrick Veszpremi, Brett Meredith and Nick Smith, just to name a few.
Though you reckon he might've spelt Johnston's name right.

I wonder how Kristin Thornton will go if he will get promoted or stay on the rookie list for another year, or worse.

No way would i delist him.

Interesting to see him mention MOD. Suggests he may well be around for another year.

Yeah, MOD's name definitely the one that sticks out. You would've thought the others were pretty likely.
