After watching Luke Ablett's recent goal kicking efforts is he the worst kick in the club? Is he worse than Andrew Dunkley?
Who is the worst kick for goal

Set shot?
Luke Ablett surely. I think the problem is that he explodes into the ball instead of following through hence you get a mongrel kick.
Worst shot i've seen was Ben Holland kicking OOBOTF from a set shot 10 metres directly in front.Last edited by Jeffers1984; 11 August 2009, 01:51 PM.Official Driver Of The "Who Gives A @@@@ As The Player Will Get Delisted Anyway" Bandwagon.

I thought Jude was getting better until Sunday's effort (he made up for it later though)"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

Luke was once a great long kick on goal. I remember two beauties from about 55m. One was right in front of us at the SCG - right on the line. Luke took the mark then Baz ran past for the pass-off but he didn't. As Baz ran back into position he said "you better nail the bloody shot now!" - and he did. Another time he took a big mark well outside 50 m and Goldspink (!!) said "you can't kick that" and he did.
I think there were a lot of nerves for last weekend's big match. Goodes, Jude and Luke all missed gimmes. They went back to normal as the nerves settled and they got on top.
They won't have that luxury this weekend.Comment

Anyone catch Jake Spencer's effort on the weekend, dropped the ball before getting to kick it.Comment

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Yes,he is the most improved kick in the side IMO.That one miss kick for goal was a reversal to when he always dropped the ball too close to his body. IMHO that was a bad habit gained from quick kicks out of the clinches. Kicking is an essential skill and we ignore it at our peril. Look at the predicament Hawthorn are in because Buddy can't kick straight anymore. They went with his natural style and ignored his risky technique and now they are paying the price. Because kicking is a technique ,a straight kick for goal can be learnt while field kicking tends to be more natural. Not everybody can bend them back with the wind like Plugger or swing them around corners like Motlop but there is no excuse for not kicking a set shot straight. You can still miss due to other factors but it should always be launched with a chance.Comment

I suspect Noggy's legs and back aren't as strong as they used to be due to his recent past illness and it has sapped his confidence as well as his kicking strength. That shocker in the 2005 granny didn't help his confidence either so he now tries to kick out of danger every time, and it aint working.
As far as being the worst natural kick of all time, has to be Dunks. Miss the goal posts perhaps, but to kick out on the full, from INSIDE the goalsquare is an achievement reached by few. I salute you Dunks.Last edited by Primmy; 11 August 2009, 03:50 PM.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Pyke is our worst by far."As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.Comment
