    MOD's Game

I am surprised by the lack of comment on MOD's game on the weekend. To me he rose to the occasion and played very well for a youngster. Admittedly it was only Richmond but he showed poise under pressure and did the team things. He kicked a good goal and his disposal so often mentioned as a minus was good.He was certainly better than Ablett whose continued selection is a mystery. How was the goal he missed and the hospital handpass in the backlines?

Both the players you mentioned had good games.

MOD is maybe the type that plays well in seniors but looks average in ressies.

I honestly thought he was a goner seeing how bad his kicking was first hand. Could do everything else right as a sweeping HBF (positioning, clean hands off the deck)

I guess he rises to the occasion which some people just do. His field kicking was penetrating and didn't see any mongrel punts (apart from his attempt at goal which he created thanks to his forward pressure).

Adds some speed and dare i say it, class.

However his kicking will be put to the test against the high pressured teams like Geelong, Collingwood and Aints.

Exactly! He rose to the occasion. I think I mentioned on another thread that he looked like he has worked out that he is a contender for a spot in senior AFL, not a pretender. Its all about hunger, and confidence, with a major dash of maturity. I trust that everything has now fallen into place, and we have a very handy addition to our senior playing list. Onyers.

I've got to be honest, while he was involved and had a bit of spark about him every time he touched it, which are big pluses, I thought his field kicking was still quite ordinary. A lot of his kicks were helicopters, even ones that hit the target (one in particular stands out, a long kick from half back that I think may have hit O'Keefe, or some other blond player, which was a mongrel but fell onto his chest). He disposed of the ball at 56% and had 3 clangers. I'm not bagging him, he was exciting, and I think he's earned himself another game or two, but let's not all act like he's the second coming of Christ.

            Agree here with BSA5

One good game against possibly the worst opposition of the year doesnt mean heres made it. Played very well, thought his disposaol was OK.

Lets see how he goes against the elite this week.

              Was impressed with MOD's game.

Reckon he is a good kick but can lack concentration. In the seniors he was more deliberate and took more care with his kicks, hence they became more effective.

Gotta say after reading the ressies reports here this year I was expecting nothing but was pretty impressed by what was essentially a first gamer.

His disposal while others may not think pretty was reasonably on target with the only real clanger being that roost towards goal . To me looked much better than brabazon did when he had his chance.

As a Ressie Watcher of some years standing, I feel I can speak up for MOD. The thing that pleased me the most in this particular game was that he played at a consistent level. May not have been obvious to most watchers but I have observed him float up and down all over the place in ressie games, and it drove me up the wall. This time he made the most of his chances in an important seniors game, he played a consistent game at a senior level, and that pleased me. And that is why I have have a few kudos for him. I trust he will take this further, and I hope he does.

He played well enough for me to put him on the consideration list as a cheap reserve for next year's fantasy football

                      Hard to compare
He was manning up on Mcmahon who had about same disposals
He had 80% + game time dure to injuries
Brabazon had same disposals with only 60% game time against Adel
Not knocking him they both deserve chance
                      cheers

Did plenty enough to hold his spot next week; meaning the club can afford to judge his future based on 4 games, not just one.

While there were some mongrels, one pass in particular into our forward 50 in the 3rd quarter was pin-point. The hype from 2nds-watchers seemed to be that
he was congenitally incapable of hitting a well-struck accurate drop punt; so I was pretty pleasantly surprised to see his performance.

No chance. The way he played against the Tigers is enough to see him stay on the list.

If he can do a repeat performance against the Cats then I think we have a potential gun on our hands.
